Excuse me. Any time you punch someone in the head you are trying to kill them. There is NO other reason. The probablility of permenant brain damage is 100% and it is measurable.
That said save the state a bunch money. Clear him of charges. He will never get convicted. Its a waste of time to persue it.
While I do believe that there is a high probability this would have all been avoided had he listened to the police's instructions, to ask someone to place their hand behind their back when the result of that action would be your face hitting the pavement, you can understand why he didn't. Alcohol most likely played a role in this young man's decision making. However as an officer I'm sure you're trained in ways to get an arm behind their back. Hopefully repeatedly punching someone in the face isn't one of those ways. Especially in a time and age where everything is on film and easily taken out of context. Me, I was raised to not be a jackass. Thus, I have never been punched in the face by a cop haha

I don't see what, if anything, that happened in the bar has to do with what the kops did. I read the whole comment. It offers no more info that what I copied.
I often hear that we only see part of the story but that not everything is on the video. Maybe, maybe not. This video as well as the WHOLE video of the de. kop kicking the man in the face tells the whole story.
Maybe what they mean when they say we don't know the whole story is that they haven't finishing doctoring it up to make the kops look good.

video doesn't show guy fighting cops. just says he was resisting arrest. no charges of assault so I'm guessing he didn't hit cops. you know if someone were to lay so much as a finger on a cop they would go after attempted murder charges.
just pulling away from a cop constitutes resisting arrest so that doesn't mean a whole lot to me.

not really mad bro, but it is distressing that police kill thousands each year and nobody seems to give a damn. did you know they recently investigated Ga. and found that half of police shooting victims were unarmed and shot in the back? or do you even care?

besides being emotional, you should do some research for yourself. thousands killed by police is a CONSERVATIVE figure. some depts don't report them at all to the FBI, which they have just started to correct.

There have been about 400 people shot dead by police so far this year. More than 80% were armed with a weapon, whether it was a gun, a knife, or something else. At least a quarter of them were mentally ill, according to their relatives.
It isn't "thousands". Considering the huge number of contacts the public has with police every year, it's a very tiny fraction of a percentage. Not that any unjustified shooting is excusable, but the "problem" is blown way out of proportion to extort the taxpayers at every level.
Stand on a street corner in any major city at 1am, especially if you're white, and you have a far greater chance of being murdered by a black male, than by any race of cop.

Keep in mind the year is only halfway over. Even the 605 killings that Mapping Police Violence tracked through July 10 alone would make the U.S. an outlier among comparable democracies.

Wrong! the truth is that the mass of the fist is increased by the weight of the glove. The knuckles may be padded which tends to reduce the depth and frequency of cuts where bone is close to the skin. But the increase in mass causes the brain to be jarred more severely. Bodies in motion tend to stay in motion, bodies at rest tend to stay at rest until acted upon by an outside force - a punch. When a fist strikes the head, the weight of the head absorbs some of the force of the punch. the energy possessed by the fist is transferred to the skull which moves in the same direction as the fist. The greater the mass of the fist, the greater the energy transferred to the skull.The brain tends to remain still until the skull moves into it. When the inside of the skull impacts the brain, the brain can be injured. Whether or not the brain is damaged and to what extent depends on many things. Not the least of which is the force transferred to the skull by the fist. Remember.... F=MA. Force = mass x acceleration. The greater the mass, the greater the forced transferred to the skull and subsequently the brain. This is precisely why years ago people who frequented rough bars, etc., would carry a roll of dimes in their pockets. They would put the dimes in their hand and make a fist around it before punching someone in the face making their fist heavier. They knew the odds of a one punch knock out was greatly increased. So whether the weight (mass) comes from a roll of dimes or a boxing glove, the result is the same.
A significant percentage of those, over 80%, had a weapon when shot. If they hadn't been put down, chances are someone else would have been murdered by the criminal.
