HYATTSVILLE — A labor union for Maryland public employees held rallies across the state Thursday to place pressure on Gov. Larry Hogan’s administration for a pay raise and more money to fill vacant jobs under their current contract negotiations.
The Maryland council of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees is asking for “fair pay, fair treatment” at work, and resources to help provide public services, according to Jeff Pittman, a union spokesman.
The union began contract negotiations at the beginning of October, union officials said. Thursday, it coordinated rallies in Baltimore, Cumberland, Hagerstown, Hyattsville and Salisbury. A larger rally is planned for Dec. 10 in Baltimore.

wait until their pension fund gets wiped out ..
Say No! To the unions. Bunch of crooks
Just say "No", Larry. Budgets must be slashed, not just cut.
Give them more money and cut their benefits by an equal amount. More $ = Less days off or pay more for insurance.
Or place a percentage of the cuts from budgets into a fund to be paid out in bonuses over a number of years as long as the expenses are held to the reduced amount. Like businesses can do in the real world.
My response to this would never get published.
Just suffice it to say.....NO!
Here we go people rioting to get what they want I guess this is the next phase
All the money on the money tree is gone until next year.
two words Obamacare preceded or followed by an expletive
Hogams done enough for state employees already.
AFSCME whipping up the crowd just in time for elections - they will never be satisfied - because it's only "FAIR"
They got a raise last summer. I haven't gotten a raise for 2 years! No more raises! Learn to pinch your pennies like the rest of us.
Cost of living raise and insurance went up. I'm starving.
I've been cleaning floors and Toilets for 35 years can't retire on state pension. Insurance cost to much.
Yeah right. State employees don't pay crap for insurance. Who you kidding?
No. Make due like the rest of us have.
Government workers for the most part have better pay AND greater job security than anyone in the private sector. Greater job security because it takes 8 months and 50k to fire a 20k a year employee.
11:12-But they are still ungrateful.Only those who are on the outside looking in realize how lopsided their salary and benefits are to the private sector.
