A new Goucher College Poll confirms that attitudes on police vary based on race, and a vast majority of people are familiar with the events surrounding the death of Freddie Gray.
The telephone poll of 636 Marylanders statewide was conducted over a five day period ending last Wednesday.
The poll has a margin of error of plus-or-minus 3.9-percent.
It found that 82-percent of those surveyed were paying some attention or a lot of attention to the events surrounding the death of Freddie Gray, including then pending trial of the six officers accused in his death. Only 17-percent were paying little attention or no attention at all.
Poll director Mileah Kromer says those figures don't necessarily indicate it will be impossible to pick an impartial jury of Baltimore City residents for each of the six officers' trials.
