With Latest Purchases, Sun Communities Now Owns Three Local Campgrounds

BERLIN – After nearly half a century under the guidance of the Parker family, Frontier Town, the popular western theme park and campground outside Ocean City, has been sold to one of the country’s largest RV resort companies.

Sun Communities, a national company that owns and operates more than 250 manufactured housing and RV communities, purchased Frontier Town and Fort Whaley officially on July 31.

“We look forward to continuing the legacy of the Parkers and enhancing assets going forward,” said Jon Colman, vice president of Sun Communities.

Frontier Town, a popular family attraction on Route 611 since it opened in 1959, first started as a Wild West show. Through the years, under the guidance of the Parker family, it evolved to include a water park and campground. Owner Mitch Parker declined to comment on the property’s sale.

He-he-he-Yeah 5:58 that's Jonathan Taylor's fame to claim. Beating Sby News to a post. Big deal. Now if JT would only learn to pay his bills as fast as he posts posts that would be an actual accomplishment. Both him and Miss Piggy are on judiciary for owing money AND they had to ask others to pay for his own father's funeral. It's right in the obituary. He-he-he

I don't know if anyone else had the same problems we had at Frontier town but every time we camp there we have electrical problems. We lost our oven the first trip.... electrical problems and lack of power according to repair people. Our camper was new on the first trip and we just thought it was getting "the bugs" out of the new equipment....but after the second time it was determined that there had been power problems and it damaged the camper. I hope the new owners will fix that problem and the obvious problem of no cell reception in your own camper. Who wants to walk around in their jammies to find a strong enough cell signal just to check in on the kids back home. Needless to say...we won't be back until the new owners fix the problems. Hope this is the news that will turn things around.

Look for Frontier Town to slowly fade away and be replaced by housing projects. It's all part of the new world order.
