COLLEGE PARK, Md. —The Prince George's County Board of License Commissioners has approved the sale of alcohol during University of Maryland College Park sporting events, school officials confirmed.
The approval will allow the university to sell beer and wine at Byrd Stadium and Xfinity Center starting this fall. But, this is only a one-year trial period.
Supporters say the plan will help stop binge drinking before games. Also, the university claims that it could generate about $500,000 annually to help fund student services such as mental health counseling, sexual assault prevention and responsible drinking programs.

Don't you just love it , they will generate 500,000 to help mental health , teach them how to drink a drug.
Who wants this money? Who keeps control of this money? We are creating a source for saving people who drink by selling liquor? Elliott
What could possibly go wrong with this scenario? They may as well sell fireworks, too.
What's the problem? Still have to be 21. They can easily go to other professional stadiums (or simply a bar) and drink.
Smart thinking. It's like not wanting marylanders to go to delaware to gamble. Need to make what you can yourself.
Next will be marijuana....
6:43 So, we are comparing private sector business to STATE funded colleges now? Let's start serving alcohol during class sessions next. UMES loaded with alcohol, what could go wrong?
6:43: "...Still have to be 21...?" What? Are you Amish or something? Eighteen out of High School and into college with MANY 21 year-olds. Did you not go to college? (With all due respect.)
