Delaware State Police Announce Monthly Community Movie Night

Glasgow - Delaware State Police and the Delaware State Troopers Association would like to invite the public to the first of their monthly Community Movie Nights being held on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Delaware State Police Troop 2, located at 100 LaGrange Avenue, Newark, DE. The event, which will feature an evening of fun, sharing, and interaction with troopers, will begin at 6:00 p.m. and last until approximately 9:00 p.m. This month’s featured movie will be Penguins of Madagascar.

Delaware State Police have developed this monthly community movie night as a way to reach out to the community that we proudly serve. “We are very excited for the opportunity to meet and interact with kids and their parents and to show them a side of us that they might not ordinarily encounter. We are moms, dads, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, and part of the fabric of the community we serve. It is our hope that this event enhances our relationship with our community.” stated Captain Thomas Logan, Troop 2 Commander.

Each month will feature a classic Disney movie and will also feature demonstrations from several different state police sections including Aviation, K-9, the Special Operations Response Team (S.O.R.T.), Mounted Patrol Unit, and the Motorcycle Unit. It will on occasion feature appearances by professional athletes for an autograph and picture taking session. Refreshments will be served. “The Delaware State Troopers Association is very happy to be the prime sponsor of the Troop-2 Movie Night.” stated Lieutenant Thomas Brackin, President of the Delaware State Troopers Association. “The DSTA is committed to giving back to the community we serve, particularly in events that focus on our youth and that help to foster an environment of mutual respect and trust between the community and law enforcement.”

This free monthly event is open to children ages 5-13. Seating is limited and reservations are required. Reservations can be made by contacting Lieutenant Robert Jones at Troop 2, Glasgow, at 302-365-8478.
