My family and I have been growing broilers since 1969 with Showell Poultry, then Perdue and now with Mountaire so I think I know a little about this business. Not everyone in this business should be here, especially the yahoo in this video. This is a tough business, as is any worthwhile enterprise. My family started with two 10,000 capacity houses and now we have almost 500,000 birds in 10 houses. We have followed best management practices and proven business principles and have managed to accumulate a new worth of over $5 million. Consumers bitch about wanting cheap food, but have no idea how it's produced or what the cost would be if all poultry was organic or free range or whatever the latest buzz word might be. There are some true statements in this video but they are taken out of context or slanted or edited to fit a liberal agenda.

Just a couple points to make.
The issue here is false advertising. Perdue and the other companies advertise their chicken as "natural, humane, etc" when shown the conditions these chickens are raised in the huge majority of the customers are appalled.
In 2014, perdue stopped using antibiotics in the hatchery. It's been a huge disaster. Their biddies are delivered half dead, piles and piles of dead throughout the flock. The chickens in the video look good compared to what I have seen here on Delmarva.
Also, the grower in the video has a good record, anon 8:53 is simply ignorant and is trying to demonize him, same as Perdue is doing.
Question? How many young people are getting into raising chickens? Very very few.
How many local people are starting chicken farms? Not that many, a lot are getting out. It's all Koreans and Pakistanis that are raising the chickens. Wonder why?
There are more of these videos that are going to be coming out. Which Integrator will be exposed next?

People have no idea what chicken would cost if they were humanely raised. Really? Is that why Purdue has enough money to build college building, and solar fields amongst other things? They are raking in a huge profit and treated their animals like scum, and all the while false advertising. I have started to buy all of my meat farm to table because I like to see what I am eating.

Screw those antibiotics and hormones! My 11 year old daughter is fully developed. Girls weren't like that when I was a kid.

I have started being more selective about my food due to factory farming practices. "Process verified" doesn't mean it is a good healthy process - it means it is a consistent process.....

They treat some of their employees worse...deceived, lied to, and then simply discarded (laid off).....imported from other parts of the country - lured with re-lo packages and signing bonuses...no growth potential once you get there, and there's nothing else on the shore paying near that kind of money - if you don't conform - you get discarded!

If they leave the eastern shore though SBY will be finished!

Ok, I'll play, but these two are truly useful idiots. Ok, first thing, get rid of cafos, what happens to cost? Huge increases, think what would happen to food prices and the cost of food to the poor in our inner cities when they couldn't eat chicken year around for a 1.99 a sandwich? Next, what happens when our aggregators leave the shore, then the US? Remember nafta and now tpp? Since we no longer have to have our food show nation of origin labeling, all of this protein production goes to China..fffff forget it, I don't have time to try to educate retarded f tards at the CBF, Delmarva now, SBY indy, and the local Democrat club, you clueless ninnies are beyond hope, and all of YOU other morons need to by land so your children can raise their own food because if the idiots in this film, and the above named f tards get their way, what happened to manufacturing due to NAFTA will happen to protein production via TPP. Morons! All of you !

9:15 You are ignoring the big picture. Companies such as this that pay most of their employees poverty level wages are the reason why so many people are receiving government entitlements. The majority of those who are on welfare benefits are the working poor.
While you think you may be getting cheap food, the reality is you are paying for it in other ways.
Only a handful of people working in the slaugherhouse on Rt 50 in Sby can afford to buy homes. This in turn lowers home values for everyone.
If these people were honest they would rename the stadium and the business school Tax Payer Stadium and the Tax Payer School of Business because of the way they have sponged off the tax payers to supplement their employees.
These aren't honorable or great business people. It's not rocket science what they did. Anyone can get wealthy when they rely on the tax payers to pay for their employees.

The meat industry employees use a lot of services provided by the non profit sector as well. They can't afford to live on the 10 dollars an hour they are paid so besides receiving food benefits they are frequent users of the various food pantries on Delmarva.

Cage free eggs are now only .30 a dozen more than standard now at Food Lion in town. If the sales goes up the price will go down.
On a side note, I have another example of Perdue false advertisement. I was in 4th grade at Showell Elementary (1992) when Frank Perdue and his wife visited our school on Earth day. I'm sure they were tooting their own horn about their "environment activism." Franks stupid wife showed up in a fur coat... C'mon man.
