Caregiver Charged In Fruitland Woman’s Death

FRUITLAND, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police have arrested a caregiver in connection to the death of a woman she was caring for.

Police say 44-year-old Becky Long has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, assault, manslaughter, reckless endangerment and abuse of a vulnerable adult in connection to the death of 56-year-old Mary Bonniwell.

Police say Long and Bonniwell were living together in Fruitland, and that Long had been Bonniwell’s caretaker for more than a year.

Stories like this should discourage advanced care of family members.Instead of being horrified at my comment, please ponder it.A caring & loving family is not always the appropriate way to go because any mishap is viewed much more harshly than if the mishap occurred in a nursing home.Any issue that can be sensationalized by the media is greatly amplified when family members are involved, and the media has a huge impact on court related decisions.Elderly people die in nursing homes every day under questionable circumstances & very little ever happens to them as a result.56 is not elderly, but the need for care has no official age limit.

Hmmm. Look up Becky A Long in MD case search. Becky vs. Chris Bonniwell. There will be a lot more to this story. Did you hear that the deceased had been sleeping on a makeshift bed on the floor, because "her bed had been ruined"?

This makes me sick.

And yes, my Dad died in a nursing home. Despite my tenaciousness, nothing has come of my complaints.

I did look her up 12:46! The Chris Bonniwell was charged at one point with harassment and being a peeping tom.
Long also had a peace order out against him and others.
I'm thinking were these concerned relatives who were only attempting to check up on incapacitated Mary Bonniwell?
