SALISBURY – The Salisbury City Council quickly went over agenda items last week, approving the addition of restrooms to Ben’s Red Swings, an amendment to the current fiscal year budget and a fee for Bed and Breakfast Inns to be established.
Restroom Addition
A resolution came before the council to approve construction and accept the donation of a community-built restroom building at the Ben’s Red Swings Playground in the City Park.
The resolution states, “The City of Salisbury is interested in improving the City’s playground facilities, and a plan to provide permanent restroom facilities at the Ben’s Red Swings playground has been proposed by the family and friends of Benjamin Layton in his memory.”

Ben's Red Swings is a very popular playground it is utilized alot. The story and construction of this playground is inspiring. This playground was build with ALL private funds and donations. The bathrooms are going to be a needed good addition to an already great playground. I thank everyone who is involved the keeping up and adding to this playground.
Ben's red swings is awesome. Having said that, just watch how fast they shut those rest rooms down due to Salisbury scum abusing them.
The more people turn off the video games and take the kids to the park to play, the less opportunity for unscrupulous behavior there. Enough families there, to keep an eye on suspicious individuals and call the police if necessary, the less problems there would be.
I would suggest closing the park after sundown though, and locking the bathrooms to prevent them from being used for drugs and sexual activity.
i stopped going there when I found a balled up used diaper in the sandbox.And people smoke in there despite the signage.
I can see the obama kids NOT flushing.

The restrooms have to be monitored by city employees just like any other public restrooms. There should be a number to be called when problems occur.

The diper didn't belong there but least it was a diper and not something that really didn't belong. I hope you disposed of it properly. As for smoking, if you see a nicotine addict violating the rules tell them to stop and when they throw their butt on the ground tell them to pick it up. I have done sosuccessfully. If decent people don't stand up who will.
Ben's Red swings is a wonderful playground and kids use it all the time.

There is a problem here. I did take my kids to several different parks including BRS. I'm retired law enforcement and I was appalled by the number of convicted child predators(physical and sexual abuse) in and around these parks in addition to the many previously convicted drug dealers also present and obviously dealing. I will never again venture to these parks due to security concerns. The bathroom idea is good but needs to be scrutinized and planned with security being top priority. These people never change and are on the constant lookout for any opportunity to have access to children. BE CAUTIOUS.
