Mystery Flavor: June 19

June 19th is the next 3rd Friday in  Downtown Salisbury with artists and crafters filling the streets, and a brand new theme:  MYSTERY FLAVOR!    Mystery, Surprise & Adventure will be found all over from mystery writers, ghost hunters, interactive art projects and more! What's in store?  You'll have to come to 3rd Friday to find out!! On the Plaza, there will be live music from Salisbury's very own masters of funk, The Hot Meals, with special guest Reverend Chaos! Artists, crafters and community groups will have something for everyone.    Meet mystery writer Andrew Heller, creator of theSamuel Smythe Mystery Series, and check out theWicomico Public Library's mystery collection andsummer reading program, or surprise your favorite person with 25% off all Pearls at Kuhns Jewelers!    Down St. Peters Alley, off the Plaza, theSalisbury Jaycees will again be hosting beer and wine service, with all proceeds supporting the many community projects the Jaycees produce each year.  St. Peter's Church will also be participating with "St. Peter's - Mysteries Revealed!", featuring mini-tours of the church complete with some mysterious highlights, and hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and water for sale in the courtyard.      North Division Street  On North Division, the street will be filled with special surprises, interactive activities and interesting challenges.  Take part in the unknown with interactive art projects, or explore the inner mysteries of the spirit by slowly walking a labyrinth, an ancient spiritual exercise, hosted by the Episcopal Church of Wicomico County.     Escape Room  While you are over on North Division Street, stop by Escape Salisbury's table to learn about Downtown Salisbury's all new escape room located above the Brick Room.   Escape rooms are a new social craze, great for parties and corporate team building, that forces participant to work together to discover hidden clues, solve puzzles and unlock mysteries of the room before time runs out.  Check out some sample puzzles and clues, and get info on their upcoming challenges!       Government Office Building   The Government Office Building Steps will also be home to several special performances, with Kicks Martial Arts , The Jaw Droppers hip-hop dance team from Seaford, andMitchell's Martial Arts all holding demos between 6pm and 7pm, and be sure to stop by Cake Art, for "Create Your Own Cupcakes" and of course a Mystery Flavor cupcake!     Down on Poplar Hill Avenue, SWAC  will be creating a foundation for more activity for the East Main Street side by hosting artists and music in Lot 10.  This 3rd Friday SWAC PRESENTS: "YOUTH ROCK THE LOT" with a band of local high school students called "Cuidado: jPiso Mojado!" performing from 6-9pm on lot 10.  "Cuidado: jPiso Mojado!" boasts a group of local high school students who can normally be found excelling at classical music, but who also show off their skills as a rock band!  Refreshments will be available.  Season's Best Antiques on Poplar Hill Avenue will also be open with special sales on their amazing inventory!     Tony Weeg Photography Studio  Gallery exhibits abound with brand new shows at The Tony Weeg Photography Studio, The Art Institute and Gallery, and SU Downtown Galleries.  The  Tony Weeg Photography Studio and Gallery, on the Plaza,  will hold a solo exhibition of the artwork ofPatti Backer, a phenomenal local painter, with a beautifully twisted mind and a flair for the whimsical!  Known for her neurotic little birds and other animals that travel at night on the backs of snails, Patti Backer's show will be a treat for the eyes and the imagination!        Art Institute & Gallery The Art Institute & Gallery will hold the opening reception for the "Abstraction, Mixed Media, or Assemblage" Exhibition, from 5-8pm. Stop by for refreshments and experience the art of wonderful local artists, including a solo show by outstanding painter and photographer,  Petra Bernstein. The AIG is located on the lower level of the Gallery Building off the Plaza.         Salisbury University Galleries  As part of its inaugural local artists series,Salisbury University | Downtown Campus, on North Division Street hosts solo exhibits by local artist Jordan C.K. Suber and by 2014 Art War competition winner Erik White.   Her, On the Road features paintings and writing representing Suber's experiences traveling in the United States. Her work seeks to capture and record disappearing landscapes, people, and ways of life as they change so rapidly in the contemporary world.  Erik White's Evil Paradise features oil paintings representing White's experiences traveling in the United States. Inspired by the work of Jean Michel Basquiat, he seeks to raise questions about societal norms while leaving the interpretation up to the viewer.      If music is what you are after,Headquarters Live, downtown's all new music venue, will have Yellow Dubmarine, a Reggae Beatles Tribute!  Between the Beatles classics, slinky reggae grooves, and skanky horns, every show is sure to be a punky reggae party. Tickets are $10, Doors open at 7pm, and the show is ages 18 and up.   The downtown bars and restaurants are also ready for a night filled with specials and live entertainment.  For the happy hour crowd, Roadie Joes will have live music byDark Gold Jazz and DJ Rusty late night, and Brew River will be having a Friday Night Dock Bar Party with Naked Nation at 6PM and DJ C-Dub to close.  For the after dinner crowd, Mojo's has local favorite Flint Eastwood, Market Street has DJ B-Side and The Brick Room will have Anna Moss performing from 6 to 9pm andMoonlight Drive  from 10 to close!
