Common practice in civilized areas of the country.

OMG, you have to be kidding me! These idiots can't see a fire hydrant on the side of the road. Hey, maybe if they had to clean them off and paint them every year they'd know where ALL of them are.

I know, place them in front of Panara Break, Dunkin Donuts, Giant and all of the other places they frequent on a daily food run.

Why don't they put a solar red light on them?

Anonymous said...

Do not always see them at night. Sometimes cars are in front of them.

Anonymous said...

Agreed...place them at wawa, giant, Rita's....so on and so on....OH maybe it's because of all their alcohol and drug dependency. They are soooo mellow it's helps them locate. Nothing like Hansel and Gretel .

if u cant see a hydrant how can u see a tiny marker LOL.

So they put a marker there...so what? What is the big fat freaking deal about an improvement to the city?????

We are doing something productive and you still complain.

Salisbury fire should have map books on their apparatus with an officer’s head in it in route to the call like real fire departments in the country. I guess those laptop computers in your apparatus don’t have hydrant locations either. Pretty sad if you ask me.

They are reflective and visible from either direction just like the yellow ones on Rt. 50 and 13. Have you ever driven at night? They are very visible and save time when a hydrant hookup is needed. You people complain about every and any thing. Must be sad to be so negative.

Actually it is common place for these markers in most places go....nothing dumb about it if your life is saved by one.......everyday I thank my lucky stars im no longer a delmarva resident..you people are clueless.......

Is the county going to put these blue markers on the road in front of the farm ponds that they draft from when they need to fill a pumper?

Anonymous said...

like Salisbury gets Tons of snow every year.

Each rig has a computer that can tell where the hydrants are. The 911 center can tell the nearest hydrant to an incident. Computers fail and dispatchers are idiots. These markers may help to save a life but at what cost to the city tax payer

Having spent a decade as a firefighter in a town with these markers, I can say from experience that they do make a difference especially in rain storms and fog. There are many decisions that need to be made upon arrival at a scene and being easily able to locate a hydrant in less than perfect conditions helps.

Why is everyone mad? The firefighters above mentioned how it can be helpful to have. Stop crying about stupid things.

So the requirement is a fire hydrant be located a certain number of feet from the next hydrant. The FF pull up to the fire a hydrant can't be far away. Somebody makes blue bots and needed to make a sale and found a gullible town to buy them.

9:36 that is true hydrants are suppose to be in certain places. However developers find them ugly and try to hide them or as stated before cars park in front of them. These are only test ones, if they do not work, they will not be used. Look them up they are inexpensive.

Of all you haters out there ... how many of you will run into a burning building to save a stranger! And if you think it's a waste of money? I say if the city purchased a million and one life was saved ... guess what it was money well spent. Some people just look for a reason to complain!

10:04 $6.50 each x 1500 hydrants is almost $10,000 not including the man hours from public works dept. to install. I have a great idea if these are such a great idea each collection of houses served by a fire hydrant chip in and buy one and deliver it to the fire station so the fire fighters can then go out and install it correctly at that fire hydrant. Bet that neither the home owners or the FF will go for that idea. Would be great training for the FF's would familiarize them with the neighborhood and allow them to test the hydrant for proper function.

It is call keeping up with the times 9:36. Sadly, Salisbury and the shore have a lot of catching up to do!

10:29, So it is okay to spend millions to save one life. Is it also okay to spend millions on abortion to keep a life from never happening. People die every day and will continue to die every day no matter how much money is spent on law enforcement, fire fighting, medical advances, drug treatment, and/or highway safety. At what point do we as a society realize we are wasting money. If people really think it is a great idea than do like 10:40 suggests. Show me a study where it has been verified that a life was saved by blue dots.

Every fire hydrant location was located and plotted by former 911 employee for the County Doug Jones. These hydrants are then told during dispatch of a "rare" fire where the locations of the hydrants are. Hence, a waste of tax dollars.

Snow plows tear them up. Hence, a waste of tax dollars.

It's also the job of the paid firemen to know where the hydrants are located.

No wonder pal across the bridge call this the Slow Shore! Idiots wanting to a price tag on Human Life! 11:10 ...What the heck does paying for abortion do with this issue? I am pro life so no I wouldn't spend a dime on abortion! And don't get me started on government funded abortion. Different discussion for a different time.

7:04 Show us a study where a human life has been saved by blue dots. If you don't see the correlation of the government spending money to save lives and spending money to take lives than I guess you have a weak mind. Personally I don't see a problem with being the slow shore, obviously the highly educated in Bmore and DC haven't solved the problems of the world. Throwing money at a problem(especially one that doesn't exist) doesn't fix or make the problem go away.

What a joke!! Another way to spend your money.

Jim Ireton is a psychotic fool for appointing Rick Hoppes after he turned him down 5 times. Bunch of fat losers.

That's what laws are for. Enforce the laws dumbass. there is no need to waste precious tax dollars just because you benefit from them.

It's just like all typical Democrat Social programs that have failed. Baltimore proves it and it is an undeniable fact.

They only put four of these markers out??

How embarrassing for the idiot to put them in the nastiest looking street with cracks and pot holes they could find. Look at that rusty fire hydrant. I have a better idea, let's get these paid firemen to go around painting every single fire hydrant in Salisbury. I guarantee you they will know where all the hydrants are then.
