MCE Celebrates Small Biz Week & Holds Ribbon Cutting!

MCE hosts ribbon-cutting for Women's Business Center during National Small Business Week; Week long events planned to celebrate entrepreneurship SALISBURY -- Maryland Capital Enterprises has a week-long series of events planned to celebrate National Small Business Week May 4th - 8th, 2015, including the official ribbon cutting of the Women's Business Center, a full service office dedicated to serving women entrepreneurs. MCE is a non-profit organization based in Salisbury, which serves entrepreneurs on the Eastern Shore, Baltimore and Anne Arundel Counties, and Baltimore city, offering counseling, mentoring, and micro lending for small business owners. Funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, MCE recently opened the Women's Business Center, led by Director Jennifer Currie, to help women start or expand small businesses. On Wednesday, May 6th, the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce will join officials from the Small Business Administration and MCE in hosting a ribbon-cutting at 4 p.m. The office is located at 144 E. Main Street, on the second floor. Earlier that day, MCE and members of the SBA will visit several clients of the Women's Business Center to thank them for starting a business and helping drive the local economy. Businesses include Cake Art (1 pm), Tickled Paint (1:30 pm), Taxi, Etc. (2 pm), Market Street Boutique (2:30 pm) and Holly Ridge Lamps and Antiques (3 pm). On Monday of next week, MCE will tour businesses in St. Michael's, joined by local elected officials and members of the Chamber of Commerce. On Tuesday, MCE will visit businesses in West Ocean City. And on Thursday, they will visit businesses in Princess Anne, and Friday MCE will visit businesses in Cambridge. "Small Business Week is a great time to remind everyone how important these small businesses are to our economy. Entrepreneurship takes guts, and many of these folks work day in and day out to be able to make their business a success. We want to encourage them and thank them for those efforts.
