Alabama became the fourth state on Thursday to pass the legislation calling for a convention of states to limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government.
Alabama is the first state to pass such legislation this year and joins Georgia, Florida, and Alaska which passed the Convention of States resolution in 2014.
The Convention of States efforts hinges on Article V of the U.S. Constitution, which allows Congress to propose amendments and “on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, Congress shall call a convention for proposing amendments.”
Alabama’s resolution would impose fiscal restraints on the federal government and limit the terms of office for its officials and for members of Congress.
In a statement on Thursday, Terry Richmond, Alabama legislative liaison said he was “overwhelmed by the support we received from both volunteers and legislators over the past few months. The dedication, vision, and prayers of every volunteer in the state, along with the hard work and commitment of our sponsors and their staff, is what made this victory possible. The people of Alabama should hold their heads high — they’ve implemented the Founders tool to fight federal overreach, and we’re one step closer to turning a Convention of States into a reality.”

"people of Alabama should hold their heads high" Why? Because they lead the pack of taker states?
This is a plore to get them to sign off on amendments that will have bloatware in it saying something to the effect of getting rid of the constitution... Bc we all know politicians vote without reading anything...
The fact remains, no matter the side you take on this, that our gov't ISN'T working for us, the people. I'd welcome ANY form of change that will restore liberty and freedom from what's become unbearable oversight by the entirety of our gov'ts from Capital Hill & the WH all the way down to townhall.
Time for an overthrow of the government! Throw them all out, forcibly! Then, no one can serve more than two terms, period! No career politicians! No special interest monies allowed to be taken in for anything.
Be careful what you ask for...the ones running the constitutional convention are currently in charge and want more power from the people!
