The
National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Weather Advisory
for Sunday (3/1/2015) from 10:45 AM to 4:00 PM for Wicomico County.
*
HAZARDS: Primarily sleet and freezing rain.
*
ACCUMULATIONS: Snow accumulation less than one half inch. Ice less
than a tenth
of an inch.
*
TEMPERATURES: Upper 20s to around 30 through midday and early
afternoon then
rising to mid 30s by late
afternoon.
*
TIMING: Light snow and sleet becoming sleet and freezing rain during
midday then
transitioning to all rain
by late this afternoon.
*
IMPACTS: Hazardous travel due to ice covered roads, bridges and
overpasses.
A
Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet and
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Use caution while
driving.

County Department of Emergency Services (DES)
The
DES is continuing to monitor the situation in conjunction with the
Maryland Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) and the National Weather
Service. Additional Weather Bulletins will be issued if warranted.

Joe, I saw an ad today on WBOC touting how great Dan Satterfield is; how he always gets it right. I just had to laugh, I guess he must have seen the comments here regarding his ability to predict accurate weather forecasts.

Stay off the Bypass has been many vehicles leaving the roadway.
Usually WBOC goes overboard before a storm and predicts more precip than we really end up getting. For today they were only calling for rain and we got snow and sleet. So they didn't even have the correct temp in mind.
A few minutes after hearing the "that's what Dan said" commercial, I opened the garage door and was amazed to see a glaze all over the driveway and cars. At 11 last night, the word was that there was an advisory for northern Delmarva. What a joke!

Question: If WBOC reported yesterdays weather today, how close would they be ?
At 1:55 this afternoon they still had their 5:55am 'forecast' posted! Calling for a high of 38* and precip later this afternoon.
If it weren't so sad (and irresponsible)
it would be funny.
Are Schools closed again for Monday?
They should save the millions in radar computers and go back to the barometer.

Look, you folks have Internet. Go to weather.com or noaa.gov or weather.gov.
That's all you need. Plus, look at the radar to see if their predictions match the radar. You can even do the interactive radar which shows development over 2 - 6 hours.
Really all you need.
