A New Mexico middle school teacher has quit her job and is lashing out at her school district after she claims she was threatened and bullied by her students.
Sharon Moran, 47, retired from McKinley Middle School in Albuquerque last week after getting a death threat from on of her students.
The Michigan State University graduate has worked as a teacher for 12 years, but felt she couldn't continue due to the hostile environment at the school.

As much as i see teachers salarys on here and the complaints they are paid too much....now do u see their pay is well deserved
Threats like this happen far too often right here in Wicomico County, especially at the high school level. But teachers are physically hit and injured even in elementary school classrooms here. The only form of protection teachers feel they have is to join the over-priced and generally ineffective union. The public doesn't seem to support teachers, many parents don't seem to care, and school administrators warn teachers against filing charges against the little darlings. And none of this gets reported. Principal smashed in the mouth at WiHi, and no reporting. Two vice principals physically injured at WiHi last year, and no reporting. Two special ed aides injured at a local middle school, both by the same kid, and no reporting. Folks that complain about teachers should really go and volunteer for a few hours or days and see what some of these people tolerate every day!
5/;53 I totally understand what you saying, but let's go to the other side!!! We ( my husband and I) are PARENTS!!! We are not our child's friend! We do not let her rule our roost and our child does not tell us what to do!! She is expected to get good grades, Respect her Elders (which we taught her that)so as far as the kids who hit their elders - Gone, Cya, Bye and NO Looking back!! Should not be allowed back into the school AT ALL!! But, the Liberals won't allow that!! I think we need a Sheriff Joe at WI-HI!!! And - If a student punches a teacher or Administrator - Hold the parents accountable as well and have the parents pay for their medical bills as well and if the ambulance or fire trucks were called - then the parents should have to pay the taxpayers back for that also!! Then maybe Parents will say, Hey!! Act like a human being!!
Dont forget 5:53, after that student hurt those administrators at wihi, he came over to parkside and raped a girl. Now he is in jail. Our great leaders at the board allowed that to happen by not holding him responsible putting everyone at risk. It took forever to get the student that beat the 83 year old man out of the school as well.
As a substitute teacher for the Wicomico County Board of Education I work in various schools around the county. Many teachers speak to one another and I also witness things that happen. Too often students get their way no matter what the offense is. For example I personally know a elementary teacher that is continuously being verbally threatened as well has been assaulted by her students and the administrations reponse to this problem is that its all the teacher's fault and question her ability to control the class room. I'm told the Delmar Elementary School has a special crisis response team for when a student gets out of control and on more than one occation a student has been injured. So why hasn't anything been done about the problem students? The answer I always get from other teachers is Fredrickson and the Board just sweep the issue under the rug. Criminal charges should be pressed against any student that become extremely violent and Fredrickson and the Board of Ed need to be held accountable for allowing it to happen in our schools. Kids need to know that bad actions have consequences. Correcting the behavior is far more important then worrying about their self-esteem.
