Hey Wicomico... Make a decision and announce it now so families can plan. No need for the early morning drama!
Yes, you can say that again!!!
If you'd look, you'd see they made the call. Call it too early; complain. Not soon enough; complain. If you had any sense you'd figure they be closed. Idiots.
Hey smarta$$... It was obviously they'd be closed. That's why I said announce it now!
whats the problem 7 30 cant watch your own rugrats
Actually 7:36, I teach your little rug rats. Try to teach them manners and enough skills to earn more than minimum wage.
Looks like the teachers and kids will be going to school until late June with all the days they have missed. Then they will say its too hot for them to be in school!
stop in a school that does not have air conditioning (East Salisbury Second Floor), you will see that it is way too hot. But wait, this is in the poor section so no one cares.
The state will waive a lot of them. No worries.
8:02, it's people like 7:36 that send you the kids who don't know manners or skills. When they come from people like 7:36, they are destined to fail. I appreciate your efforts, and your willingness to put up with ignorance passed down from parent to child.

No offense, but you are failing miserably at teaching them manners, especially if you are a teacher at Bennett.
I had the misfortune of driving by there as school let out a few days ago. They would just walk across the street regardless of oncoming traffic and they were walking against the lights.
I seen ONE crossing guard and he was at the last light heading west. The other intersections looked like zoo cages had been opened and all the animals were escaping en masse.
You could say you have no control over that, and you might be correct, but how long before one, or more, of these little angels get run over? Maybe even on purpose.
They put speed cameras at all the schools to slow down the traffic, ( cough- increase revenue- cough), but do nothing about these future generations of society to learn how to live in a society. ( A civilized society anyway ).
Hey cops, you want to make some revenue? Send these darlings home with some jaywalking tickets for their parents to pay.
I bet mom and pop would straighten that out real quick. maybe.....

John Fredericksen and his employee talking trash to the tax payers again. I would love to see Bob Culver and the County Council slash their budget in half and make them start cutting some of the over paid employees.

No, Wrong Answer!! The state has already said no waivers and we have to go 7 additional days. No built in snow days. get ready to go when it's hot and the same ones making stupid comments about it being a good idea they canceled school yesterday will be the same ones complaining "it's to hot!" I will be laughing at you morons because I love hot weather.

No the State will not be issuing waivers this year. From the BOE calendar:
June 10 Last day for students, instructional assistants, and nurses
So that means 7 days will be added to that calendar. So now the last day will be Friday June 19, 2015. Summer vacation is now basically 1/3 over since they start back in August.
LMAO you dummies saying it's a good idea to cancel school everytime someone farts in the wind are going to be complaining about it being to hot and then they didn't have much time to go on vacation.
They should not waive all of them. Just the 1 where the state was under a state of emergency.
I think it would be wonderful if the rugrats had to go to school until July or August or better yet, try year round.
3:25 and 3:36 - please show where you found that the state said they will not be approving waivers. All I see is that the state department of education has not received any requests for waivers as of yet. Where is your proof for your statements?
Nah, they will waive a lot of them. The western shore has missed about the same number of days and we all know that they run the state and will get what they want.
Not worried about my kid anyway since he still gets out on the regular date since Bennett Middle teachers get the rest of the time to pack and move.
So the state said no waivers? Have been searching online and haven't diund thy article. Guess you have a direct line.
Hey have no proof because the star didn't say that. You are correct in that no one applied yet. It will happen and we will get days waived. Always happens.
811, I am neither 325 or 336. There are a lot of articles (not the shore newpapers) and talk about the past waivers given. MyMCMEDIA.com, Baltimore Sun and the Washington post have all had articles discussing this.
In an article that mention Montgomery co, it was stated that the MSDE will be looking at the ways each county tries to make up the snow days, once they exhausted their snow days.
We know WICO does NOT build any snow days into their calendars. They did take away one day so far, but I fear they will have to much more to earn that waiver for the 8 extra days.
Wicomico will add 5 days and request a waiver for the rest. I believe they have missed 9 days, one made up by a professional day. So they will ask the state to waive 3. That's the way it has always been done. Unless the earlier posters have some inside information the rest of us don't know.
Looks like another opportunity for teachers to visit the sky resorts again since the rest of us still have to report to work. At least mine was kind enough to wait until 11 today to give me time to shovel my driveway out so that I can get to work and pay those extremely high state and property taxes so that you can enjoy your time off!
9:13
The western shore schools were smart enough to add a few snow days into their calendar. Wicomico county didn't add ANY.
Hey 10:12 where are these sky resorts of which you speak? I am a teacher but I have never been to one. By the way, we pay taxes too!
