Councilmen Marc Kilmer on Wicomico County Council Meeting Last Night
Last night the council had a 5-hour meeting, including 2 hours of public comment on the capital budget. One of the first things we did was approve a new finance director for the county. Leslie Lewis had the unanimous support of the council and I look forward to working with her. The council voted 3-3 on the nomination of John Terrell to be director of recreation and parks. I voted for Mr. Terrell. Even though I have reservations about the process by which he was nominated, I think the executive deserves some deference in choosing his team. However, a tie vote by the council means Mr. Terrell was rejected.

Terrell signed the agreement, thus he is not eligible. However, I will add to that that Terrell is one of a few people who has the same connections Mackes had.
Say what you want about Mackes, but he had the connections to do his job.
But look idiot 1:46 pm he didn't do his job and he got fired thank God. It was long overdue.
What is her annual Salary? That's where we find out who the conservative is.
GM had connections because he wouldn't hire locals that would have connections. The man was insecure,couldn't have competition Just look at Wisk.
What is wrong with John Terrell?
Who voted against him. Culver has to live with the choice, why not give his guy a chance.
So does that mean he's out for sure? Doesn't the executive have "executive order" as does someone we all know?
OK I'm not the greatest at staying involved or in the know on this local government stuff but its nice to see this Kimler guy keeping us informed of what's going on, lots better than what we had
I think Marc Kilmer is the best guy on the Council. He isn't a hot head, he isn't a glory seeker/show boat, he isn't a blow hard. I don't know Mr. Davis, but this describes the other 5.
Thank you Mr. Kilmer for your calm, thoughtful demeanor. It is so nice to listen to someone who only speaks when he has something meaningful to say. Your fellow councilmen would be wise to follow your lead.
I hope that Kilmer reads these comments. All of the council for that matter.
Cannon was so obvious in bringing up Wisk and Oland to the council table to sit there during 3 Rec & Parks votes on things they didn't need to explain or "sell". This was Cannon showcasing Wisk, who he and his buddies Creamer and Strasberg are pushing for Department Head.
Wisk is an arrogant Mackes clone who is highly disliked by the majority of the employees. Culver should have the right to select his "team" without manipulation by Cannon, Creamer and Strasberg. Culver can't do anything about the first two, but he should FIRE the last one- Strasberg. He isn't trusted by most of the employees either.
Some people have a problem with Terrell because he took the sweet retirement deal of almost 4 years ago. So what!!! He didn't write that deal. Pollitt, Peterson, Shea and others wrote and/or agreed to that deal (including the County Council) for all their good ole boy buddies and themselves. I don't fault Terrell for being smart enough to take it. I fault those who proposed it in the first place.
If you are worrying about double dipping, then ask CANNON and the other COUNCIL MEMBERS why they hired Matt Creamer back and continue to keep him and the questionable assistant . He is the KING of double dipping. Remember, this is Cannon's second time on the council, so he can't claim ignorance.
Hypocritical to say the least if they have a problem with Terrell for double dipping. If he isn't acceptable, then you need to get rid of Creamer for the same reason!
Terrell is liked by most employees (except the Mackes lovers) because he served as a buffer between them and Mackes' outrageous temper and poor behavior.
Terrell knows a lot and can straighten that former Mackes "empire" out. The County needs him. The council needs to do the right thing.

Get rid of Wisk, Terrell and Creamer and start with a new and clean slate to run this county. Anyone who had tenure when Mackes was head of Rec & Parks need not to be hired. Please remember that John Cannon is a RINO, "SNAKE IN THE GRASS". etc, etc.
5:31pm You make some points in your rant. The issue you left out is there is a difference in Terrell and Creamer. Terrell took early retirement. Creamer did not. Yes, both are double-dippers, but the early retirement is where they part ways.
