COMPUTER HACKERS SCAM

JOE- just got a call this pm from a male calling from a Delaware phone number. Said he was calling to help me with our current computer problems and updates, no name of company or anything did not even id himself. Asked me to please go to my computer so he could get on and assist me, he had a heavy accent. I told him we had no computer problems, or update problems nor had we called anyone regarding these things and hung up on him. I wish I had written down the phone number before I hung up so could be given to the police. Please make everyone aware of this scam ASAP.

Been going on for months.
Usually a Florida number, but when you call back it is either disconnected or busy.
If you get a call like that asked them what their URL is so you can remote in to their computer.
See how fast they hang up on you.

Our call came from Washington State. Husband told them off.

Ours came from Dallas, TX. Woman with Indian accent. Said she was calling about our Microsoft operating system receiving malicious downloads.

I had the same thing happen. I usually mess with them when they call. It can be fun to confuse them and frustrate them.

what really gets them going is when they say from your home screen you tell them you took them out for the winter

I told the guy that when he could learn to speak English so I could understand him he could call back. He did so I told him something about my @ss.

OH MY... do I have fun with these guys. First... I'm hard of hearing (not really) so I ask them to speak up at least 3 times. Then I ask them personal questions and the first time they mention a wife, or child I begin to cry and tell him that that my husband left me and I am ill. Then I ask about his health. When he tries to bring the subject back in line again...I become very hard of hearing and pick out one word he says and twist it to MY word and go off on another tangent. If you have the time... and you love a prank ..this is good sport. Haha

Yeah its a common scam. I work in IT and I find that a lot of seniors tend to get hit with these calls.

No matter what you will never get a call from anyone including Microsoft, HP, or any of the other companies out there.

The FBI will do nothing. We had a large company here in Salisbury that had someone hack into their server and then encrypt all their files (Sorta like the crypto locker virus). They left a ransom note on the desktop of the server asking for $2000.00 to decrypt the data.

They left instructions on how to wire the money. We figured wireing the money should be able to be traced so we contacted the FBI.

They told us that most of the time these people are in Africa and there is nothing they can do. So basically this is a crime where you cannot get punished and sadly there are many Americans that get victimized by this scam all the time.

We have had that same call 16 times so far....LOVE messing with those people!!!!!! I got a call last week (supposedly) from the I.R.S. They said they have a lawsuit against me....oh my!!! When I looked the number up on whitepages.com there were 49 complaints against the phone number and it did warn of the number being associated with a scam. When I called the number back (when the original call came through, it was a recording stating that they were the I.R.S with the lawsuit), a man with an accent answered. I told him that I had just got a recorded message from them stating that from what I understood, the I.R.S. was trying to get up with me because they owed me a boatload of money. Needless to say, HE hung up on ME!

I never get these calls. I have caller ID and I don't know anyone named Florida, Texas, or any other state-like names. I did know someone named Dallas once...
