SMART PHONE FLASHLIGHT ALERT

Wow. This guy is misinformed on a few things.

He is correct the some of the top apps have too many permissions, but the top 4 have no permissions of that sort. They ask for camera and system setting access, which is necessary in order to control the flash on your camera, and they ask for internet access, which is for ads so the people who create and maintain these applications can make money, no one wants to work for free.

Yes, there are many apps out there that are invasive and ask for too much, but that is where being a smart consumer comes into play. If you wouldn't buy that flashlight from the hardware store that asks for all that info, why download an app that does the same thing? Before downloading any app the Play Store lists the permissions the app is asking for and what you are allowing it to access. Take a second and read what it wants. If the flashlight wants to access your contacts, then it wants too much.

As for the malware, most phones are locked down in such a way that what he says is not possible. An app installing another app without you knowing cannot happen automatically since any app install requires you, the user, to accept the install. The apps also cannot access the core system of the software, so putting something on it in such a way you have to factory reset it is not possible.

8:51 you seem a bit off the mark also. Viruses, Malware, and Trojans can do what they want, including turning off security features that stop installs with out permission.

I use a Trojan on my Malware to prevent Viruses.
