Mr. West was a very nice gentleman and loved horses whether he was talking about an old winner from years gone by or a fowl with lots of promise in it's genes he loved talking horses! As a soft spoken gentleman he raised his so Dana, who was my age, to be a first rate golfer and a man who like himself you can't help, but like! Mr. Paige you'll be missed, but I'm sure you and old Adios Butler are training right now for this weeks qualifying in heaven right now!

I remember him sitting with my old boss, Garland Garnsey, at the track diner at five every morning. Garland told me to listen to everything Mr. West had to say about horses.
