Big presidential entourages from 3 nations facing Ebola outbreak coming to Obama's Africa summit

The presidents and other top officials from the three nations considered Ground Zero for the deadly Ebola virus are still planning to attend President Obama’s U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit next week, adding another layer of concern to a world meeting expected to gridlock Washington for three days.

At least one of those leaders attending the Sunday-Wednesday summit, Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan, is bringing a 73-person entourage. Those from Guinea and Liberia are also expected to be large.

While the travel of the entourages and support staff such as jet crews is naturally raising concerns, the White House tamped down worries and said the summit will go on.

“In terms of the summit, I would tell you that we’re working closely with regional governments to stem the spread of the virus. We have no plans to change any elements of the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit, as we believe all air travel continues to be safe here,” said spokesman Eric Schultz on Air Force One as the president returned home Wednesday.

I did a paper on Ebola when I was in college and I do not believe that the disease has changed for the better. If the virus is as fatal as it was at that time...this country is in no way ready to contain it should it become a problem here. Can you imagine PRMC with an Ebola outbreak. They cannot even keep MERSA under control. This meeting should be stopped in its tracks. I think someone in this country in a very high position has a death wish for this country.

Some medical geniuses on the board I see.

733 apparently you got an F on that paper. Comparing Ebola to "MERSA" (LOL) is literally comparing apples to oranges. Please review the basic biology of both before spouting anymore nonsense. LOL, "quick quick, stop the meeting, I've made yet another alarmist judgment call without any regard to the facts; but I did see a scary story on the internet".

This just proves yet again how stupid the obama administration is and how little they care about the american people. If there is a major outbreak of ebola the government will try to restrict the movement of people and obama will have his excuse to declare martial law.Don't think for one minute obama hasen't thought about this, why else would he allow this conference to be held.Whats the matter with phone calls and e-mails?

9:33 My comments were not meant to compare ebola and mersa as a like disease / virus....you misunderstood. My intent was to establish the well known fact that every highly contagious disease that has been in this country the government has mishandled. The CDC were the very agency that told you that HIV was not blood-born when they knew it was being transmitted between mothers and infants and hid the discovery so the citizens would not panic. The general population , which apparently includes you, are fine with whatever the government puts out there and just wants to ignore the facts. Feel free to comment on what you have little knowledge of. Haters gotta hate.

1029, no sir/maam, I knew exactly what you were getting at, and i wasn't speaking of a trivial virus vs. bacteria question.

Since I try not to debate the ignorant, please do yourself a favor and review how exactly MRSA and Ebola are transmitted. Which one is more readily transferable between humans? Which one has a stronger tendency to survive outside of the host? Lastly, please examine the medical literature coming from universities, private health organizations, and other sources around the world. Yes, be skeptical of government claims. No, do not totally disregard readily available facts that don't fit your preconceived notion.

"haters gotta hate": what are you, 13 yr. old girl?
