Mom who abandoned her baby on Manhattan subway platform in custody

The mother who abandoned her baby girl on a Manhattan subway platform on Monday morning is in police custody, authorities have said.

Police said they were questioning a 20-year-old woman who was found around 12.30am near 72nd Street and Broadway, although charges have not yet been filed, the New York Times reported.

Witnesses said the African-American woman, who has not been identified, had pushed her seven-month-old daughter's stroller out of a northbound 1 train at Columbus Circle around 11.50am before darting back inside the train.

Surveillance footage released by the NYPD showed the woman entering the subway with the baby in the stroller earlier in the day, but there were no cameras on the platform where the incident occurred.

This is the result of our welfare system...no consequences for bringing fatherless children into the world

Not 100% sure, but NYC may have a baby drop box system.I know how horrible that sounds, but the babies placed in that container are immediately well cared for. That would make the mothers actions even more inexcusable.
