Landenberg Man Charged in Connection with Seven Bank Robberies

Wilmington – A joint investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Wilmington Office, Whitpain Township Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police has resulted in the arrest of a serial bank robber.

Joseph F. Mieluchowski, 43, of Landenberg, PA, surrendered to detectives at Troop 2 yesterday. Detectives had linked Mieluchowski to seven bank robberies:

In each of the robberies, Mieluchowski was armed with a handgun and demanded cash from several tellers. As the robberies continued, he became increasingly violent, often threatening bank customers.

Although this robbery trend ended in 2011, detectives continued to work vigorously to identify the suspect. After receiving a tip in late 2013, detectives were able to identify Mieluchowski and, on June 18, obtained a warrant of his arrest.

Mieluchowski was charged with sixteen counts of robbery first degree, two counts of attempted robbery first degree, one count of kidnapping second degree, eighteen counts of aggravated menacing, and seven counts of wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony. He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $935,000 secured bail.
