ANNAPOLIS, MD (June 30, 2014) -- Governor Martin O’Malley issued the following statement today in reaction to the Supreme Court of the United States’ ruling in Harris v. Quinn:
"We are still reviewing the details of the decision, but we are disappointed with the outcome.
"Maryland has derived enormous benefit from our homecare system, which includes collective bargaining. Our system enables the State to accomplish important goals -- like ensuring an adequate and well-trained homecare workforce -- and exclusive representation and fair-share fees play an important role in a fair and effective collective bargaining system.
"As we continue reviewing the decision, we will consider what, if any, changes will be required for Maryland's system of collective bargaining. Our system has worked well for home health workers, patients, and taxpayers -- so we will try to keep it as much intact as is possible. "

it didnt go far enough
no one should have union dues automatically deducted.
and no one should be forced to join a union
Ok O'Malley. So which church do you demand I attend? It's obvious you are against Freedom Of Religion, so therefore, I hope Marylanders will remember that at election time in November. Brown is your man but after your statement he isn't mine! Also remember Obama exempted Muslims from the ACA because it was against their religious beliefs.
OMalley is an a. Hole. A mother taking care of her son should not be forced to pay union dues. Especially seeing as how the union does nothing for her.
Using the libtardeeze to English translator:
"We are disappointed that the use of force to get in the pockets of hard working people and transfer those funds to the communistic democrat party will be stopped...."
It's bullshit that people should have to pay into a union that they don't support nor agree with. AFSCME is nothing more than a money-laundering venue for the liberal spenders in this state. Time and again, they bargained for contract changes that I DID NOT agree with, made campaign contributions to candidates I did not support and then put out propaganda in support of said candidates. If it weren't for my family, I'd have found another job a long time ago, but the O'Malley regime has this state's economy so dependent on government, it's nearly impossible to find a job in the private sector that supports a family of 4 and provides health care. Bottom line: I should NOT have to pay union dues just because I am an employee of the state. They DON'T speak for me, and I should have the right to NOT be forced to support them, or any other cause I may not agree with. I certainly hope this ruling does affect us here.
1:54 nailed it!
1:56 Good point. The AFSCME is a union run by Democrats for the purpose of donating campaign money to Democrats. This is just another example of the Socialistic movement in the Democratic agenda.
"We are still reviewing the details of the decision, but we are disappointed with the outcome."
The prudent thing to do would be to actually read the decision and THEN weigh in. That is how smart people respond to things. I guess we have to consider the source.
Joe, I hope you tell your readers how our local elected officials are bought by far left unions. Norm Conway and Jim Mathias have campaigns that run on union money. They need to go.
1:54 hit it on the head. Unions are only a slush fund for the Dems.
