New Law Puts Tow Trucks In Md. “Move Over” Category

Towing the line. Maryland already requires drivers to change lanes or slow down for emergency vehicles stopped, standing or parked on highways.

Pat Warren reports a new law puts tow trucks in that move over category.

Dominic Taylor has been answering AAA emergency calls for 10 years. Just last week, a tow truck operator was hit and killed assisting a customer in Virginia.

It's just common sense to move over for EVERYBODY. Anything can happen and anyone can step out in travel lane unexpected. Wouldn't you rather be safe than live with hurting or killing someone?

Id rather the government mind thier OFB...every law is just thier instrusive foot in the door of freedom...common sense and good driving habits are the real problem

Maybe they should have wider shoulders on main roads.

Yes, and that is why they have to pass such laws because of the lack of common sense and good driving practices. But it seems they only enforce those laws which will bring in the most revenue instead of the most safety conscious ones. Hence hiding in bucket trucks, farm tractors and every other means of disguise while our costumed heroes terrorize the driving public.

Tow truck drivers have a much more dangerous job than the cushy job of a cop.

Good for them....Tow trucker drivers and ownership go through so much more crap than people know about.....I encourage everyone to ride a shift with one or two of them and see how easy and cushy their respective jobs are.......

What would our founders say about this? Sigh. I yearn for simpler times.

Vehicles should have to move over for ice cream trucks, pest control, disable vehicles etc.
