It's true that texting while driving may be dangerous, but it pales in comparison to the dangers of daydreaming while behind the wheel, a new study says.
According to new research by the Erie Insurance Group, daydreaming drivers are five times more likely to suffer a deadly car crash than those who were focused on an electronic device.
“The results were disturbing,” Erie Senior Vice President Doug Smith said.

Just like most of what I hear nowadays, this is absurd and ridiculous. Does anyone really believe that people thinking are five times more likely to be involved in an accident than someone texting? If you do, then maybe you ARE too stupid to be thinking while driving. So now are the thought police going to give out extortion papers for thinking while driving?
This sounds like Erie is just making up data to justify rate increases or a new "daydreaming" fee to go along with our "terrorism" fees. This report is B.S.
And hypothetically if it is true what can they do about it? NOTHING. Well nothing legal but I am sure there are snakes waiting to deal with the aspect of legality it as well. They are probably in Washington right now with bags of cash buying every politician they set eyes on.
Holy Moly!!! Can you IMAGINE the fines and tickets cops could write when they start their "Daydreaming is Death!!" campaign??
Cops with high powered binoculars, drones focusing on drivers, laser tracking to make sure your vehicle doesn't "weave" in the lane (daydreaming, that's for sure. And here's your $100 ticket).
