Alex DeMetrick reports, first responders have to adapt to fewer fires and more medical emergencies.
It turns out that wail in the night is a call for change for fire departments in Maryland and the nation.
“It’s a big change, and it’s been trending that way for 20 years,” said Chief Michael Cox, Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Take note SFD. The same is true here. The calls are posted daily.
“And we were sending a fire engine out on everyone of those calls, and that just doesn’t make sense,” Neuman said.
The county is growing its ambulance fleet, investing in six more by June to keep pace with an aging wave of baby boomers.

The "boys" just don't want to stop playing with the big red trucks! Get more of the medics trained and respond with the little red trucks, oh, that would never happen under the current leaders.....
I'm trying to come to SFDs defense here but there is not 1 single paid "fireman" in the SFD that is not also either a EMT-B, CRT-I, or Paramedic. It's a requirement of their employment.

so I say give them a year to get certified or else they will be replaced.. having unqualified people is only the right of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government
anyway it is time to unload the obese and unhealthy ..no wonder so many of them are fat sounds like they do very little at all
