Voting Rights Activists Appeal Proof-of-citizenship Ruling

Civil rights groups on Friday appealed last week’s federal court decision that said states can require proof of citizenship on their voter registration forms — a ruling the activist groups said runs counter to Supreme Court precedent.

The judge had ruled that the federal Election Assistance Commissioncouldn’t refuse requests by Kansas and Arizona that registration cards distributed in their states include proof of citizenship requirements.

But the activists said that imposes an illegal burden on would-be voters.

“The EAC has the authority to reject the states’ unproven claims and unreasonable request to require more paperwork from eligible Americans who want to vote,” said Sam Wercinski, executive director of the Arizona Advocacy Network.”

Complete citizen requirements. Take the pledge. Pay all taxes. Then vote.

Its real simple to me...if you don't have a verifiable SS# then you don't get to vote.

They must prove a case where a person without citizenship credentials has the right to vote. Until then, show me your danged I.D.

7:33 Obama has a SS# from a dead man from Connecticut. As the liar Clinton says "what difference does it make".

They are afraid that Democrats will start losing elections if they have to have an ID to vote. If I have to have an ID to buy beer then you need an ID to vote.

How can anyone with at least half a brain not see that this is total Bull Crap?!

"unreasonable request to require more paperwork from eligible Americans who want to vote,”...So, how would Mr. Wercinski determine who is an "eligible American"? We have to be of a certain age, and be citizens with paperwork to prove it. Or, maybe Wercinski believes that election judges are all psychic?

@ Bush'man; Having non- citizen voters puts a lifelong burden on legal citizens. Of course, the Dems don't consider it a "burden", It's just their effort to control.
