Largest Mass. Electric Utility: Smart Meters “Irrational”

According to Halt MA Smart Meters, Massachusetts largest electric utility NSTAR has submitted scathing comments to the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) regarding its proposed mandate (to the utility, not the customer- there is no legal mandate for individual utility customers to accept “smart” meters on private property anywhere in the US or abroad that we are aware of- that is a myth and a lie perpetuated by utilities).

NSTAR states in its official submission to the DPU:

“there is no cost justification that can support the implementation of ‘smart’ meters”
“Smart Meters do not reduce the number of outages”

“Smart metering systems are not necessary to integrate distributed resources” (wind & solar)”

“Smart meters introduce a brand new portal into (our) information systems, significantly increasing the cyber-security risk.”

“mandated implementation of (smart meters) is not a prerogative within the [DPU]‘s discretion”
“Many customers have a deep aversion to technology that links them to the ‘grid’ in a way that they perceive as an invasion of their privacy and/ or detrimental to their health”

The individual may not have legal recourse and one can refuse the meters. How the electric companies will bill u each time a meter is read by their employee. If one is gonna be installed after u refuse the first you will have to pay for that also. Ask Delmarva Power what that will cost.

How is this a invasion of privacy?

D P & L should be ashamed of their tactics. Smart Meters have NOT been mandated by Maryland or the Feds. LEAVE US ALONE. for those of you that have the smart meters installed on your property because of D P & L, you should call them and insist they remove immediately. Educate yourselves on the cons of Smart Meters. don't be deceived and foolish.

12:31 They show exact patterns of your electrical usage telling the monitoring people when you are home, when you have more people in your house, if you have "unusual' power demand requirements which may indicate you have illegal activities going on in your house (hot rooms for pot growing, meth lab, etc.) Some of the meters also have remote disconnect so in the future when the government wants to punish a so-called terrorist (someone who disagrees with the government) they can force the power company to turn your power off. I could go on but the bottom line is the technology is more about control than anything good for the consumer. Sort of like Obama-care.

Just wrap it up good in tin foil, and duct tape it on there. Just leave a little flap to lift up so they can read the meter.

I don't know how well the tin foil thing will work, but thin sheets of lead foil are available for a reasonable price. I KNOW they work!
