Craig Proposes Flat Tax, Then Ending Income Tax; House Republicans Propose Cuts

As House Republicans get a hearing today on their proposal to cut income tax rates in Maryland by 10-percent over three years, a Republican candidate for governor wants to replace the current rates with a flat tax, and eventually eliminate the income tax entirely.

Harford County Executive David Craig unveiled his tax proposal at a news conference in Annapolis this morning.

If elected governor, Craig would lower all income tax brackets to a flat 4.25% by 2016. The personal exemption will increase from the current $3200 to $5000. Craig says the savings to taxpayers will be $600 million with an average savings of $352 for married couples or $176 for individual filers.

I would rather have a Republican running the game though....it's their chance to prove they aren't like the others.....

Taxes need to be cut or all remaining businesses will leave Marypand. It has already started and Berretta Gun Manufacturer is moving to Tennessee, thanks to OweMalley's Anti-Gun Policy. Craig's proposal is definitely the plan to be considered. Shell game? Got any info on that? "You Can Keep Your Own Doctor" thats what I call Worse Than A Shell Game by Barry Obamie himself.

It would be good to start with a flat tax... unfortunately this is a radical thought to most of the Maryland socialist...

1:28 do I have any info on the shell game?
Well lets see, the state is going to give up 600 million in tax revenue.
Yea right.
It's called experience and wisdom.
Nothing is free.
You will eventually pay double the tax break somewhere else.

Flat tax will not do any good until they get rid of those special deductions.

2:24 you are correct.. while I believe a flat tax could work, it is dependant upon shutting down the other tax loop holes. It would also mean shuuting down many of the social programs that the state uses to keep people down and to force them to vote socialist errrrr democratic. It will never happen in Maryland, sicne it is run by 3 jurisdictions.. Baltimore City, PG and Montgomery county. We on the shore could help change Maryland by not employing illegals....

2:24 I understand nothing comes free. This bill might not be perfect, but IT IS WHOLE LOT BETTER THAN WHAT WE HAVE NOW.IT IS STEP IN RIGHT DIRECTION. What we have here now is A MESS CREATED BY YEARS OF OWEMALLEY & BROWN ADMINISTRATION. It will take time to get it on right track. It should be noted that all Republicans agreed to support it. Democrat Doug Gansler showed support as well and got immedietaly thrown under the bus by his fellow Democ-rat Anthony Brown, geez I wonder why. Because Liberals are scared of it, they cant stand their powers would be reduced. I dont care if its Republican or Independent who comes with right solutions, but WE ALL KNOW- DONT LET DEMOC-RATS RUN ANYTHING NO MORE.
