Joe,
Maybe you can help me with something. I’m driving down Rt.13 this morning, and I notice something. The sidewalks adjacent to the “Overhead Bridge” have not been cleared of snow. First of all… WHO is responsible for this property? Why is it, that as a citizen of Salisbury, I’m threatened with fines if I don’t clear snow from my sidewalk and whomever this property belongs to is not? In my neighborhood no one even uses the sidewalks. Everyone walks down the middle of the street. This actually infuriates me, especially when said individuals refuse to yield. But that’s another story for another day. The fact is a lot of people walk up and down Rt.13 and have had to deal with trying to get up and over this bridge through the snow. So again… who is responsible and why hasn’t the City Of Salisbury slapped them with a fine?

Because they're the responsible ones?

highly likely.
The city will blame the State, the state will blame the railroad, the railroad will blame the Federal Government, and the Democrat/socialists party will raise
taxes for more welfare and food stamps to give freebies to people that ought to be shoveling the bridge instead of sitting at home watching Mellisa Harris Perry on a big screen bought with money from sold food stamps in a warm house with the electric bill paid by Shore-Up eating food from the food bank while the Escalade is in the shop gettin' new 24's...
This is Obama's legacy.
How about the sidewalks next to the park on West Main? Never touched.
do as I say, not as I do - mantra of all government.
8:16 great analysis
8:16 Agreed except you forgot drinking double duces with that food-bank food.
Why are you worried about a bridge ? The city's chief law man Matt Tilghman hasn't cleared his sidewalks after the last three snowfalls.
I'm not sure if you have noticed or not, but it seems vacant homes in the City of Salisbury are targeted more often than those that are occupied.
I have seen notices on doors on vacant homes next to occupied homes with no notices when neither have shoveled sidewalks.
The same thing happens in the summer with lawn maintenance.
You think the City thinks these buildings are an easy non-contested way of getting more money ?
anonymous 11:07, DO YOU KNOW WHY THEY ARE VACANT? I DO!
Because the Mayor makes MORE money from the FEDS and STATE then he would if he rented them out.
Either way Salisbury receives the SAME amount of money every month for those boarded up properties and better they stay empty with no problems, no wear and tear and no chasing after the tenant for the small rent they should bring.
So glad THE BRICKS project fell apart.
Joe,
The Mayor doesn't rent out property, unless he owns it. Feel free to attack him for plenty of things, but it's not right to attack him for this.
Now the banks...many of them prefer to collect off the PMI than liquidate a foreclosed property. This allows them a steady source of incoming cash, and then don't have to write down the overpriced housing stock on their books.
I've got a feeling that all of these fines assessed on the abandoned houses will one day be waived, in the public interest. Not like the banks can't afford to pay them.
When I came along kids were sledding down that hill,if you're talking about the bridge sidewalk.Kids these days are fearless.
12:15 I was slidding down that hill in the snow 50 years ago.
9:39, who is Matt Tilghman? Barrie's husband? Or did you mean Mark, the city attorney.
1:20-But I'll bet you weren't ON the sidewalk.
I noticed an older lady walking on the sidewalk where rt 13 goes over rt 50 today. She almost slipped and fell. There is a lot of traffic in that spot and had she fell into the road she would definitely been hit by a car.
50 & 13 are State Highways and the responsibility of the State roads, not State sidewalks. Jim Ireton needs to fine these Bastions for all they are worth! And since Marty is running this state at a deficit, that means MD Is worth NOTHING!
Time for another hissy fit, Jimbo!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
next time it snows, i'm getting my camera out and taking pictures of all the "public" property with sidewalks that haven't been cleared of snow. Joe, i'll send them to you promptly thereafter.
Vine street , as someone said , they don't use the sidewalk.
They walk in the street , play in the street and get shot in the street.
