Obama administration Guidelines Could Lead To Racial Quotas In School Discipline

How discipline is doled out in the classroom now will be under much closer scrutiny by the federal government, but some analysts say the Obama administration’s efforts ultimately may backfire and could lead to de facto racial quotas in American schools.

The Education Department and the Justice Department on Wednesday issued new “guidance” to ensure minority students aren’t punished through suspension, expulsion or other means more than their white peers. The administration cited legal authority under Titles IV and VI in offering detailed rules for how school districts can administer discipline.

More reason to get you child out of the public school system and into some kind of private, or christian school environment where they will learn decent values and the parents have a true voice in how there children are educated. I did this with mine. I had to make sacrifices such as not buying a car or taking any expensive vacations. It was all worth it. I kept them away from the crap that is our public school system.

Justice isn't justice in this country any longer. In fact it so disgusts me that I have absolutely no respect for the judicial system. From the SC judges to the street punk dressed up in his/her cop suit. No respect what-so-ever.
Just look at the only "knockout" charge being prosecuted as a hate crime.
Holder & Obama have an agenda.., and it is to give special rights to the pack animals of their kind.

I am a teacher & this is nothing new. We are constantly having to justify any punishments/referrals given to a minority child. I have seen this first hand for years - a minority child has received a lesser punishment for an action in comparison to a non minority child received a very harsh punishment. I teach at a school that is approximately 85-90% minority so mathematically the minority children will have higher discipline referrals and suspensions. I teach because I love children & I believe in them, not because of the color of their skin. Punishments for negative behaviors should be given out in reaction to the behavior not the color of the skin.

Arm yourself for the eventual, but inevitable outcome. "Minorities " will need to be dealt with on the level they've chosen.

8:22 is absolutely correct. See the same scenario.

This emphasis is being driven from Annapolis and local officials are forced to comply. DC's whims become OweMalley's me-too, magically duplicated by the state BOE's policies.

The actual answer to this quandry rests not with trying to get minority kids to behave better.

Instead we need to incentivize non-minority kids to get into more trouble so they can get their fair share of the punishments.

At this time they, as a group, are being slackers and as a direct consequence of their failure to misbehave minority students are forced to do more than their fair share of misbehavior.

Perhaps Eric Holder and the state BOE should require non-minority students to achieve one suspension per year during middle and HS as part of their community service hours.

What if each day out of school was credited with 5 or 10 community service hours? There would be no shortage of volunteers stepping up to help balance the statistics!

Such an easy solution; guess those 'experts' in DC and Annapolis should just use some common sense!

Too bad when the majority of the disturbances are caused by the minority group...this is plain wrong!

This is the exact job that former Wicomico County Board of Education President Mark Thompson has. Funny how he was the BOE president and Dr. Fredericksen gave him a job when he wasn't even done with his degree or credentialed. This is a fact and you should look into it yourself.

He is also listed as faculty with Wor Wic Community College and under work experience proves what I am telling you.
