The Baltimore County Executive is supporting a move to have county owned vehicles be exempt from the state gas tax. Maryland's gas tax jumped by 3 and a half cents per gallon last July.
Kevin Kamenetz tells WBAL Radio that he would like to see the same exemption allowed for state owned vehicles given to county owned vehicles. He says it would save Baltimore County about $2 million annually.
Kamenetz is also in support of restoring any of the money given to local governments from the state gas tax revenue. During the recession the highway user funds given to counties from the revenue were reduced. He says the county now only receives $3-million which is down from the $45-million it used to receive in highway user funds. The money is used for highway maintenance projects.

Anyone who retires should be tax exempt.
Why should anyone be exempt. The state should not be exempt from taxes that we the people have to pay.
Darlene, isn't that kind of taxing the taxpayers TWICE though?
