Members of a state legislative task force approved their final recommendations today in the wake of a smuggling scandal at the Baltimore City Detention Center.
The task force doesn’t assign blame to any state official for the scandal. Instead it offers policy changes that lawmakers will consider in their new session starting next month.
The task force recommended closing the state run city jail, over a ten year period, at a cost of more than $533-million.
