Gansler Said Rival Brown Relying On Race In Maryland Governor’s Contest

Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler told a group of campaign volunteers last month that Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown, his chief Democratic rival for governor, has a thin record of accomplishment and is trying to rely on his race to get elected next year.

“I mean, right now his campaign slogan is, ‘Vote for me, I want to be the first African American governor of Maryland,’ ” Gansler (D) told the group. “That’s a laudable goal, but you need a second sentence: ‘Because here’s what I’ve done, and here’s why I’ve done it.’ ”

An audio recording of the July 15 meeting — in which Gansler also spoke candidly about his campaign strategy — was provided to The Washington Post by someone not employed by either campaign. Gansler’s campaign did not dispute its authenticity but accused the Brown campaign of illegally recording Gansler’s remarks — which Brown’s aides denied.

Truth hurts. We know what the result is when folks vote according to race. You have to bring SOMETHING to the table.

Of course he's relying on race; he has nothing else.

Who is this Brown guy?

Lets hope the Republicans don't blow another golden opportunity, again.

1049, Please logo to any State of Maryland website and look at the top of the page at the photo of two people. One would be Gov. O'Mally, and the other is his right hand thief, Anthony Brown.

It's low information (stupid) voters like you who will read something just before election day, believe it, and vote for the thief that's already been shoving it up your wazoo for the last 2 terms.

While he is absolutely, 100% correct... Gansler just signed his "I just lost this election" card.

Brown has nothing to run on, as far as his accomplishments. Doesn't matter, these comments will stir the race voters.

I've heard Brown speak several times and would choose him over Gansler any day of the week...and, not because of race. In addition to an impressive background, Brown has military service. Gansler has name calling and his friend Jim Ireton.

5:47, but Ireton is the one who introduced Brown for Governor.

This might just be a Dem plan to get the names out there more so either one has more name recognition after the primary than the Republican.
