Police Recount Accident That Plunged Maryland Woman’s Car Off Chesapeake Bay Bridge

The barrier at the side of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge is intended to deflect traffic back onto the roadway. And it did that Friday night when a 22-year-old woman’s car was struck by a tractor-trailer, authorities said.

But then the tractor-trailer bumped the red 2007 Chrysler Sebring again, this time sending it up onto the top of the barrier and then over it into the bay waters below, according to a transportation authority police officer.

It was “sink or swim right there,” said the officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the crash is still under investigation.

The tractor trailer driver should be arrested. Bless that lovely young lady.

I can't imagine her horror when she bounced off the barrier, was rear ended again and then saw herself going over the barrier. Just beyond belief!

If she saw the truck coming at her "at full speed", why didn't she get out of the way?

What a terrifying experience this lady had to endure due to the irresponsibility of someone else.
