Part Time Work

While millions of Americans remain out of work, there is one corner of the U.S. economy that's experiencing rapid growth – temp work.According to the Associated Press, nearly 17 million people in our nation can't find full time work – that represents 12 percent of our entire working population. Increasingly, corporations like Wal-Mart, General Motors, and PepsiCo are turning to part-timers to staff their organizations. In addition to keeping people from earning full-time pay, these temporary arrangements deny workers access to health insurance, fair wages, and other benefits. However, with so many Americans out of work, corporations are finding it easier to hire people willing to submit to these unfair conditions. Workers and labor advocates hope that as the economy has improved, companies will begin shifting back to full-time staffing, but many are doubtful.

And big companies that use part timers and temps won't be fined for not providing access to healthcare because they will cut off the temp hours at 29, because dont you know, 30 hours a week is considered full time for Mr. President's glorious plan which will bankrupt the middle class and leave poorer people homeless. Not to mention older folks who won't even get appointments because of the overflow of patients that there are not enough doctors to care for and even if there are, are these doctors going to work for slave wages? unless it helps them pay off their loans, it is doubtful. So, if you are unemployed, good luck paying for your "affordable, required healthcare". If you are employed part time, good luck affording your "affordable. required healthcare". It's not going to mater WHEN this thing is implemented (which is just a TACTIC)it is going to cause a fault line in this country which will divide the haves and have nots even more surely than ever. And the Middle class? No more. The categories will be 'destitute', 'poverty' and 'rich'. I was hoping that the people we elect and pay to represent us (which by the way should be taken back to the days when they were elected and served with HONOR and not for personal PROFIT)would have by now seen this for what it is. But since it does not affect them (they fall into the 'rich') i guess it will not happen.
