Maryland would get more energy from renewable sources and do more recycling under a long-term plan aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions that Gov. Martin O'Malley released Thursday.
O'Malley, a Democrat, outlined the plans at a summit on climate change with scientists, business leaders and environmental advocates.
"As severe weather events continue to grow in size and impact, and elongated trends of poor air quality continue, the costs of inaction would grow exponentially," the governor said in a written statement outlining the plan. "In Maryland, we are moving forward and taking action by creating green jobs and protecting our land, water, air and public health."

owemalley will figure out how much green house gas business's generate and tax them by the pound!
This is such a bunch of crap , we had the clean air act years ago.
It wasn't enforced and this won't be enforced either.
I guess people forget and they know it.
if he would stop talking CO2 emissions would drop considerably
Maryland's poor air quality is exasperated by O'malley's "Smart Growth". One of the many unintended consequences that he and his worthless staff overlooked was by jamming people into high density living situations, air and water quality suffer. One needs to simply look to the northwest from the top of the west bound Bay Bridge to see concrete evidence of this.
Now we need another set of poorly thought out laws to attempt to correct last years poorly thought out laws. A vicious cycle requiring higher taxes and fees.
A new excuse for raising taxes..
If he would stop talking and stop exhaling he could save a lot more carbon dioxide from escaping,! Come on Owe Malley.......shut up and stop putting OUR money where your closed mouth should be.
I know. Let this idiot pay for the plan from his personal funds. Marylanders are tapped out.
Every time he opens his mouth he release's hot air gasses
When will people realize that Carbon Dioxide is naturally absorbed by plants and converted to Oxygen? It's not a pollutant at all - it's essential to life.
By taxing carbon, you are taxing life itself. And who receives the money? Carbon Exchanges which have no legitimate right to make money of another's carbon. Consider it a fielty to your masters.
