Maryland Crabs Rank Second Among America's Most Iconic Foods

Baltimoreans know Maryland crabs are an iconic local food, and apparently the rest of the country agrees.

Maryland crabs ranked second in the USA Today’s 2013 10 Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards for best American iconic foods. The top 10 were chosen from a list of 20 iconic foods and narrowed down through 24,000 votes.

Albuquerque, N.M.’s green chile sauce took the top spot, with Key lime pie from Key West, Fla., in 10th.

Glad to see that there is something more important than Benghazi, the IRS scandal, NSA breaking the 4th Amendment, and the other crap being hidden from us behind closed doors.

Thanks for the "comic" relief.

9:27 - It's nice to read good news every once in a while, instead of the constant bad news and evil in the world.

No offense to crab lovers, but the fried chicken that accompanies the crab specials are what I go for.Crabs are way too much trouble for someone who lacks manual dexterity.(That would be me)

9:13 You have to catch them yourself. I haven't had a solid outing at RR or OM in years.

I agree, RR fried chicken was always good.

Crab House fried chicken over steamed crabs? Move out of Maryland now.

And Cheese Turds in 3rd place as an iconic food?

I can remember when AYCE crab houses actually served GOOD crabs that were fat and heavy. I gave up on those places because all they serve are light weights with no meat. Waste of time.
