Drama is high these days for ethanol makers, whose fate is on the line in Washington - fitting for an industry dependent on government.
The oil industry has launched an assault on the ethanol mandate that drives demand for the plant-based fuel. The Senate recently confirmed an industry friend to head the Environmental Protection Agency. And the EPA is finalizing a controversial rule to allow higher blends of ethanol in gasoline.
Ethanol is a fuel made from fermenting and distilling plant matter - mostly corn in the U.S. From the industry's earliest days, government has subsidized the fuel. The most important benefit for the industry today is the Renewable Fuel Standard.

You can keep that crap. I'll take good old gas
Typical of big government.. Tax the sheeple and use the money to bid against them for the food they eat to make a fuel that is inferior to natural fuels. Sheer idiocy. How can any human beings be so stupid?? It must be "for the children"!!
Many automakers may not back their warranty. What we have is bad enough. I use a gas treatment in all my power equipment.
Its tearing up engines and keeping the price of corn artificially high which hurts the poultry industry.
If you own a vehicle like a classic that is not driven daily and has a carburetor, in a few months the ethanol turns into water. If you own a wood splitter or rotor tiller that is only used certain times of the year you need to use a gas treatment or you will have problems.
A few years ago Valero bought all the ethanol refiners for 10 cents on the dollar.Go figure out how we are getting screwed on this one.
I'll keep my non ethanol gas, thank you very much.
I have never used ethanol gas, especially for lawn mower, other yard equipment, boat engine, etc.
