Who hasn’t returned from a summer holiday weekend dreaming about purchasing their own vacation place someday? Now is the time to buy as the vacation home market is very ripe—NAR’s 2013 Investment and Vacation Home Buyer Survey reported that vacation home accounted for 11 percent of all transactions in 2012.
Forget the Hamptons and Malibu, though. The best values in vacation homes can often be found in unexpected alternatives to the hot spots. ERA Real Estate has pinpointed four under-the-radar markets with an average sales price of $150,000.
Salisbury, Md., is located between the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean and just 30 miles from the lovely beaches at Ocean City, Md., and the National Seashore at Assateaque Island. According to Bill Martin, broker/owner of ERA Martin Associates, sales activity is up nearly 23 percent over last year, with an average sales price around $158,000.

So who is right?
No one said anything about home values increasing or decreasing, simply that sales activity is up.
Forty or fifty years ago it may have been an attractive ad. Now? HA! The lower shore is not what it used to be.
Although the prison employed a lot of local people at the time, ECI has ruined life on the eastern shore. That's when most of the drugs and thugs started showing up here. Thanks, Schaefer, wherever you are!

My family moved down to the shore in '85(Thankfully almost all have moved away since then). One of the things that we all remember most? Seeing the outline for the "coloreds" sign over the kitchen entrance for English's restaurant. In 1985. This place was a s**thole for generations. The sad part is the good ol' boy network, and the hilarious part is the majority of citizens than bend over for them.
ERA is doing this promotion nationwide. My Mother . got a letter concerning her state of California, as did my brother promoting the Texas area.. So I'd say this is not unique to Salisbury.
Please...these aren't vacation rentals...they are once owner occupied homes in single-family neighborhoods like Camden being converted to student rentals. Now that Ireton has his "council majority," Katie bar the door. I think that more toxic properties will come under city ownership, the Bricks will cost us a fortune, and we regular taxpayers will foot the bill for subsidies for more housing downtown.
