Resume:
Christiana- The Delaware State Police are conducting a death investigation after a body was found in the Christina River, under the elevated section of the Christiana Bypass (DE 7) this morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 a.m. this morning as an industrial painting crew was working under the elevated section of the Christiana Bypass (DE 7) and found the decomposing body of an adult white male. The body was located approximately 12 feet from the western rock embankment of the Christina River in approximately 3 feet of water. The body was a fully clothed, decomposing adult white male.

Troopers with the assistance of the New Castle County Swift Water Rescue Team were able to access and recover the body from the water. The body was removed from the scene and turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.

Delaware State Police Detectives continue their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident.

DE 273 eastbound experienced intermittent closures and delays, with traffic restricted to one lane for approximately four hours while New Castle County Fire/EMS, Swift Water Rescue crews and DSP conducted investigative and recovery operations at the scene.
