Heralded as the “Mobility Administrative Fee,” the new tariff actually went into effect May 1. Don’t feel bad if you didn’t notice, because we didn’t either. Anyone with Consumer and Individual Responsibility User (IRU) lines should see this fee tacked on.
But what is the fee for, anyway? And should we be grumpy about it?

Don't like it?? Then don't deal with AT&T. Since they have essentially changed the terms of their service, this move should release you from any contractual obligations you might have with them.
Drop them if you don't like it.
Or pay it and shut up.
Your choice.

$.61 to drop a call while you stand ON their cell tower. AT&T just bit their foot off.
This should get you out of your contract though, so that's good.
This will not get you out of your contract. The 40 page wireless agreements everyone signs cover this and everything else you can conjure up to get out of the contract. I challenge the commenters to actually go to verizon, sprint, or att websites and read agreements, you will be surprised by what you see. The legal departments for these hogs are not gonna let something like this out without knowing it won't effect contracts.
I chose not to deal with any of these crooked outfits, because of this type of shenanigan.
I don't have any 40-page contract, thank-you-very-much. And my monthly costs for 2 cell phones is well below $50 a month.
