WASHINGTON, D.C. — The number of Americans seeking unemployment aid rose last week by 28,000, the third straight increase.
Weekly applications increased to a seasonally adjusted 385,000, the Labor Department said Thursday. That’s the highest level since late November. The gain pushed the four-week average, a less volatile measure, to 354,250.
A Labor Department spokesman says the figures may have been affected by the Easter holiday. The department says the holiday’s timing varies from year to year, which makes it difficult to adjust for school closings and other seasonal factors that can alter the data.

Check out today's headline in the Drudge Report concerning unemployment. Much worse than the media or government is reporting.
The economy is a lot worse than the government is letting on about, and let's face it, the media doesn't investigate much these days, they just depend on what they are told so they can cut costs like every other business now days.
During the Great Depression, there was no such thing as social security or welfare. You add those that depend on Welfare and Social Security to the unemployment rate and you are talking about 35-45% or more of people that will be living in poverty if the rate of the dollar falls much more. After that the rich better have bunkers, cause the poor will be out to rob and kill them for anything they have, a matter of survival.
The worst is yet to come, that's why all the gun grabbing and laws, new liscening, to be able to track people and their weapons down when the time comes outlaw them all together.
Today's headline from the Drudge Report: 90 million people now out of the labor force.
I believe it is higher than that when you consider those who are under employed working less than 20 hours per week and those who took a drastic pay cut to find a minimum wage job. I agree with the previous comment concerning the stricter gun control laws. People are angry and I feel it is only going to get worse.
