Maryland made national news recently for a “rain tax” to start July 1.
The tax, an unfunded mandate originating with the Environmental Protection Agency and cemented by the state legislature and governor last year, means homeowners, businesses and nonprofits in certain counties will pay a fee based on the amount of “impervious surfaces” on their property. It is supposed to raise about $482 million annually. Satellite imagery will help counties comply with the law, designed to reduce runoff into the Chesapeake Bay.
Call it the ‘Drones for the Bay’ program. The “Free State” is a Petri dish for progressive causes and perpetually tries to out-California California for increasing the size and reach of government, so the new law is not surprising to those of us who live in Maryland even as it may seem laughable to people across the country.

please explain how this reduces one drop of runoff.
I plan on moving out of Maryland as soon as I can, I also plan to move my Business to Delaware Good by Governor O'Dumbass.
This is obscene. Marylanders have no money and soon we will be just like detroit.
We made the huge mistake of buying on the water in Maryland. I try to warn as many people as I can not to do it. You have coastal bays people stalking you with cameras in your back yard checking for set back infractions. You can not so much as replace a flower without their permission. You can pretty much kiss the thought of a pool, fire pit or even a swing goodbye! If you want to cut down a tree or bush get prepared to have to spend $$$$ on replacements. It is not worth the money and aggravation.
I wonder what counties have to pay this. I wonder if these counties even border the bay.
The tax man has spoken! You will do as your told tax payers!!!
This Marxist is an enemy of the people.
Move its your best way to get representation in this state
Maryland has sucked ever since I was a young boy. Probably longer but I wasn't around then. This state is now the laughing stock of the country that is the laughing stock of the world. Good job o'bammy and o'malley. A rain tax? Everybody in office has just completely lost their ever loving minds.
Satan!
