City living may not be for every one but for me it's fantastic. Interacting with locals every day and yes, even listening to Fire Truck and Police sirens is no different than having a Grandfather Clock in your living room.
However, you and I both know, it's not busy enough in Downtown Salisbury and someone has to step up to the plate and change that. Salisbury deserves a new Mayor who can help revitalize Downtown Salisbury. Salisbury needs a new Mayor who will concentrate on bringing industry and jobs to Salisbury and not just sit back and wait until something falls in their lap.
Being a LEADER takes hard work and dedication. It takes someone dedicated FULL TIME and not part time. Granted, the pay isn't all that but to someone like me it's more about the challenge, not the pay.
As a candidate for Mayor I am pledging such time and effort. I have been so humbled going door to door throughout Salisbury introducing myself. I am asking people, hit me up with the tough questions and concerns and I'm so pleased many have chosen to do just that.
Joe Albero is NOT afraid of the tough questions. I am NOT afraid to tell you exactly how I'll handle things and quite frankly the citizens are loving what I have to offer. So much so, in ALL of the doors I have knocked on so far, only ONE person has told me they are satisfied with Mayor Ireton's progress.
That being said, Ladies & Gentlemen, if you are a registered voter I will eventually be knocking on your door and I am fully prepared to answer the tough questions. Please have your thoughts and concerns ready as I have no problem discussing my answers directly with you on any topic that relates to Salisbury.
This is what a candidate should be all about. No beating around the bush. Let me show you just how ready I am to be your next Mayor. Like the hundreds I have already spoken to, I'm extremely confident I'll earn your vote right there on your door step.

You just got my vote.
It was nice meeting you last weekend.
Joe I'm curious what your stance on the speed cameras are?
Joe, I saw you strutting your fine looking self last week on camden ave..do it Man..cause you can..I dont live in town of salisbury but you can post your sign in my yard anytime..I will be there to get one this week...Go Joe!this town needs some change and some excitment besides all the gangsta crime,,lets get that plaza livened up again..and lets get some businesses going downtown again..spruce that beautiful plaza up..get rid of the bums hanging out down there..it could be a wonderful place to visit..You can do it Joe.
anonymous 8:01, If you've followed Salisbury News in the past you'd know I don't like them.
I personally feel this is just another way of taxing citizens through FEES or FINES.
That being said, anyone doing more than 12 or 13 miles per hour over the posted speed limit in a school zone deserves a ticket but to say it's all about the children, well, then turn the cameras on when the kids are coming to school and leaving school. THEN and only THEN would it be about the safety of the children.
Call it what it is and stop acting like politicians.
I would like one of your signs but the community I live in does now allow to post political signs!
You will still get my vote though.
You make a point out of living in your office building down town? How long after the election do you plan on staying their?
anonymous 8:41, As many years as you'll have me.
If you think for a second the apartment I live in within my building isn't as nice as most homes, you'd be mistaken.
My beautiful Bride comes to visit me each and every week day at lunch time and on weekends I head to Delmar to spend the weekend with my Family. No different than so many people I know who own homes here but have to live on the western shore to work because there are few good paying jobs here in Salisbury and Wicomico County. I plan on changing that.
I love your confidence.
Joe, the cameras are on when the kids go to school. There are lots of after school programs and some even until 8pm and after 8pm the cameras are off.
I bet you don't knock on JT's door!
Joe, you are the best man for the job!
anonymous 8:56, I firmly agree. However, the children are not in the masses like they are coming and going to and from school.
Like I said, I believe you should be ticketed if you go 13 mph over the speed limit, ANYWHERE. Not just in school zones. Just be honest and call it what it is.
Again, this is NOT a decision made by a Mayor. It is a legislative decision made by the City and County Council.
And Joe Albero wins by a landslide.
anonymous 9:00, You better believe I will. I knocked on Mike Dunn's door last Saturday and we had a wonderful conversation. I played with his Dog and we discussed many topics. He was a perfect gentleman and I'm glad we had that time together.
As for JT, (so all of you know) we have invited him to every press conference and we have delivered him every one of our press releases. In fact, JT showed up at one of my press conferences but chose to hide in a van across the street taking pictures from afar.
I most certainly plan on knocking on JT's door. Are you suggesting I should be afraid?
I don't see how crime stats have gone down. We've had two shootings this week, one the owner of a Shell station in North Salisbury was murdered, another a cab driver was shot at a couple of nights ago.
Harris Teeter is opening new stores in Milsboro, Selbyville and Ocean City. A good company researches crime, schools and demographics to decide if they will open a business in certain areas.
Harris Teeter will not be opening a store here in Salisbury because of the crime and school systems/school safety.
In addition, the skilled workers job pool in this area is weak and companies won't come here unless things change big time. Un-skilled, uneducated job pool is a job killer here.
Salisbury is no city.it's a run down suburb.
Very well said Joe. You have our vote in my household.
This is off topic, but God knows we need all the help we can get for District 1. Perhaps Barry Tilghman won't be shuttling voters to the polls this time. Cynthia Polk is the better person for the job. I hope folks will get off their lazy a---- and vote.
anonymous 9:09, don't you believe for a single second crime is down in the City of Salisbury. Calls for service are UP over last year. Some are saying that instead of a formal report on crime under $1,000.00 the SPD is simply telling people to call their insurance company and THAT is why crime has allegedly dropped 40%. I've been researching the comstat numbers and policy and your local officials should and will be challenged about these numbers/figures.
If the calls for service are actually higher than last year, again, don't you believe for one second crime is down in any way.
You are to honest Joe. To some people this scares them.
I am seeing your signs everywhere Joe. You have a lot of support out here.
Joe, I saw you strutting your fine looking self last week on camden ave..do it Man..cause you can.
DITTO!!!!!!!!
We Love You Joe!!!!!
The fire sirens you hear are the fire trucks chasing ambulance calls to boost their numbers for job security. Actual fires are down so they are responding to anything they can to make the public think there are actual true emergencies. They are also responding to numerous false alarms instead of real fires. Fuel and manpower is expensive so when you become mayor do you plan on looking into this or do you plan on allowing it to continue?
anonymous 9:43, Awesome Point! My answer is, YES, I absolutely plan on looking into this. Again, if you've followed Salisbury News over the years I have challenged this many times. I have heard both sides and there is no question there is major room for improvement.
The key reason I like your question is because it's one in which most citizens see on a regular basis but feel they don't have a voice to challenge it. I plan on changing that whole situation because I will be the first Mayor in many years who will actually represent the citizens. I will not lead through press conferences and pointing fingers. I will ask the tough questions and get the citizens answers. Together we will fix situations just like this one and finally feel good about our community.
9:09 I disagree about the Salisbury not being a skilled work force area because of it being a college town. There are many qualified graduates coming out of there. We need to focus on jobs so the ones who want to stay in the area can. Jobs will also make it attractive to out of town students who would love to stay in this area. This would be a benefit and help boost the economy all around including home sales.
You have definitely got my vote, will you continue the news blog after being elected?
anonymous 9:52, Thank You. Salisbury News will continue to be published each and every day. I can assure you right here and now, I am working 18 to 20 hours a day right now running a campaign and publishing Salisbury News. It can and it will be done. I've never been afraid of hard work and thankfully I have the help of Contributors who keep posts flowing on a regular basis.
To the person who says their community doesn't allow signs...
Do NOT allow them to do that to you!
Condo associations and the like have found out the hard way that they can NOT keep you from exercising your right to FREE SPEECH!
Now whether or not you want to make your neighbors mad is another thing, but you may find that they too are under the wrong impression and would like to express themselves as well!
anonymous 9:52, you are exactly right.
For too many years we have watched the current and former Mayor tell us the same thing, yet NOTHING has been accomplished.
Let me assure you, WHEN I come out with my plan of attack on how we'll tackle this exact situation concerning retention and jobs, Joe Albero has the answer.
Ireton and Tilghman will feel their jaws hit the floor and will not be able to respond. It's time to call them out for what they have delivered, or should I say not delivered.
The voters of Salisbury will vote for me because I will deliver. I have a VISION and a PLAN to make it all come together. That's more than we've seen in the past 16 YEARS.
Salisbury area is largely uneducated, and the types of jobs that would attract educated people to stay. (You know all that money we are spending on new schools, so that they can get the better education and then move away to better living and jobs)We need a focus of the entire community to bring higher educated jobs here. I know that there is more than one reason that is not happening here.
Joe what do you think is the top three reasons and what is your plan?
Palmer Gillis (Thank you Palmer) and many others have pushed for Salisbury to change with the times,to evolve and this city has been stuck it old ways. The city council has been a subject of jokes and laughter in the other governments for many years now. That will be a fight for you, good luck. What ways will you work with the Palmer Gillis' trying to change Salisbury for the better?
Thanks Joe for bringing the challenge to Salisbury,
"Harris Teeter is opening new stores in Milsboro, Selbyville and Ocean City"
They have had a store in Selbyville (not town proper) for quite a few years now.
If you think speed cameras are bad, wait till the cameras to detect drivers using cell phones are installed. We'll all get a friendly letter.
Joe also I would like to add to your comment of crime not being down---the statistics often quoted is for what is classified as violent crimes. Of course murder cannot be downgraded as easily but the other 3 crimes classified as violent can be, such as rape, robbery and aggravated assault. This is occuring due to the fact that if a PD can show a reduction in crime grant money is available.
Nothing more than another scam so politicians can have bragging rights by saying crime is down.
anonymous 10:03, with all due respect I need to keep my plan quiet for the time being. When I held my press conference two weeks ago, Jim Ireton has already started working on two topics in which I brought forth in the hopes of taking credit for it. Now, mind you, I'm all for the fact that he is finally doing something in the right direction but some of my plans are major changes. I have already discussed these plans with other key people and they are extremely excited and finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I will be announcing these plans soon enough but all I ask from the citizens is to THINK about what they've seen over the past 4 years, heck, the past 16 years. Jim is going to try to sound just like Joe Albero but he doesn't have the experience, ability and the fact he has already proven these past 4 years he can't and won't get what needs to be done for the City of Salisbury.
We have a plan to bring great paying jobs to Salisbury and we'll announce that very soon. This is no game. WE NEED GOOD PAYING JOBS AND WE CAN WAIT NO LONGER.
Here is what's happening. People are meeting Joe Albero first hand and finding out here is not the Satan that Jim Ireton and the Daily Times have made him out to be. They are finding out that the council is NOT a "council of no's" (I think they've said NO to what they should be saying no to!). They are learning that Joe Albero knows a lot about business and the issues in Salisbury.
People are getting the truth that the council IS getting LOTS of work done (they just aren't spending all their time in front of camera or kissing Jim Ireton's butt - well, I take that back, one of them is, Laura Mitchell).
Repeat: People are now getting the TRUTH!
The TRUTH shall them free!
Great answer Joe @January 24, 2013 at 9:51 AM
10:03, what do you expect when Mayor Moneybags runs off to do ridiculous "progressive" projects that will saddle us with debt?
I like this current council because they always look for smarter ways to get something done at less cost. Corporate welfare is not the answer to progress in Salisbury. We are all paying dearly for that now, all those special deals that went to developers, more costs on our backs, like some new townhouse development is going to make my life better, ho ho ho.
Palmer Gillis and others have had plenty of opportunity to make Salisbury "evolve." Gillis could have put interesting places for people to go to into his buildings downtown, but what did he put in? Government offices and some other types of offices. Stuck in a deli and shoved the arts people to the backside.
Joe, you need to get some business people in here who know how to do exciting things with exciting jobs to offer. Then some of those smart kids from SU will stay. How are they going to stay when all the jobs are, go work at the IRS, go work in a lawyer's office, go work in a deli (no offense to the deli, I like it a lot).
Even if I didn't like this council, Joe would have my vote because he's not going to stand around and blame the councils. Both Barrie Tilghman and Jim Ireton have marched around like they are Queen and King of Salisbury and the councils are just there to go along with whatever they say (even if what they say is stupid and expensive). Now that we have a council with smarts and stones (sorry, ladies), they are to blame for everything, boo hoo hoo.
It will be a pleasure finally meeting you. Do you bring yard signs when you go door knocking. If so I'd like one.
While I just about always disagree with Ms Shanie Shield's political leanings I would like to pat her on the back in that she always behaves like a true lady and a professional from the meetings I've seen. I don't think she engages in the sarcasm that some of the others think is witty and clever nor the hurling of insults directed at colleagues.
The WOW Factor! Totally
You are very brave to run for Mayor. This town has been in bad shape for years.
10:03-I think you are off base. Some of the local developers like Gillis haven't done much of anything for downtown besides buy a building, fix it up and then put a "for rent" sign in it.
It takes more than that and I don't believe they are acting on it. You cannot sit around and wait for business to come to you. You have to court and wine and dine or whatever it's called. Promote the good points of the area, make a business want to relocate or open up shop whether it be with incentives or other perks. This is how the big dog developers work. And we are not talking about retail shops and restarants but businesses that pay well such as in the tech industry.
Nothing against Gillis and the other local developers but they need to get with the times.
I kept hearing bad things about the public works director then I actually heard her in action. She was yelling her head off at some poor sap. The conversation confirmed everything others had said. She is disrespectful, mean and vulgar. I hope you fire her before she causes a lawsuit.
If you want to get SU grads to stay, you need to attract both employers AND have an environment that they will want to be in. The insular attitude of many local people makes that difficult and I don't see any mayor changing that.
anonymous 11:16, I respectfully disagree.
My whole campaign is about VISION. You have to look 20 to 30 years down the road. You have to create a partnership, (a real one) with the University, including WorWic.
You have to be BLIND not to see the future and we've already experienced blind leaders over the past 16 years.
It's a simple question, where do YOU want to be in 20 years?
I know if Salisbury stays the way it has been, I wouldn't want to be here in ONE more year. Ireton wants a river you can swim in. Do tell me where the JOBS are going to come from THAT!
My LEADERSHIP and VISION, (with YOUR support) will deliver us great paying jobs.
You have to think outside the box. What we've seen over the past 16 years is not leadership. It's been tax giveaways to special interests. Come on now, accepting a local Hotel to get 10 years worth of tax breaks because they are in an enterprise zone, PLEEEASE! That is NOT what an enterprise zone is all about. The past two mayors want to raise taxes because they don't know how to WORK. Again, you can't wait for things to simply fall in your lap. You have to work hard and earn the trust of business owners. My job will be to retain those business and make Salisbury as business friendly as humanly possible.
I'm ready to go to work. Are you ready to cast your vote?
speaking of vision.....I really like your photo on this site but I am not as impressed with the all black wardrobe. Reminds me of New Jersey. I will stop by for a sign soon. Good luck.
I have to agree with 11:16.
Salisbury, as well as the entire Lowee Eastern Shore, has become the armpit of Maryland due to lack of professional jobs that require education and intelligence.
This area is inundated with menial grunt jobs, which inundates our area's population wiith an incrased amount of uneducated and ignorant people. This problem has created an influx of pedophiles (especially among the teachers in our schools) and other criminal-minded people who live life with no purpose.
Not trying to be cruel, am just stating the facts. Hopefully Joe can improve Salisbury's dire situation by taking over as the city's new mayor.
If not, doom is inevitable for Salisbury. OC's doom may be near as well!

Get rid of the acting fire chief and Bill Holland while you are at it.
I have no problem with you being our Mayor. My problem is with the Council. Several years have passed with the majority of this council in tact and
in my opinion we have gone backwards. Regardless of any vision you may have this council will block it.
I wish you the best of luck,Joe because even though I dont live in the city, the city benefits my business so if it progresses my business will also.
anonymous 12:50, NO they won't. I have held numerous discussions with ALL of the Council Members about various ideas and they feel completely refreshed that someone has finally come along with a vision and background to actually make things happen.
The current mayor has buried this Council with red tape and ridiculous requests, all of which I'll be happy to share with all of you when I knock on your door.
Don't you believe for a second you have a Council of No's, it's a complete lie manufactured by Ireton and the local Press.
The forums are just around the corner and people will see for themselves what is really going on. That is, unless Ireton drags in his unruly friends to interrupt each event like he usually does.
That's OK, we're ready for them too.
I haven't heard any news of a shooting yet alone two! Where was this reported at?
I respect the fact that you have lived downtown longer then the former police chief and fire chief combined. Your commitment is unheard of these days and you haven't even been hired for the job yet. You have my vote.

The police chief and acting fire chief neither live in Salisbury and never has. The acting fire chief lives in Parsonsburg. The police chief lives in the County and sends her kids to a private school. Says a lot about their dedication to the citizens of Salisbury.
Regardless of where Albero & Ireton live, family-oriented residents who possess morals & values need to vote for Joe.
***Albero is a family man with morals who lays in bed with his wife.
***Ireton is not a family man, whose morals are to immorally lays in bed with men.
I am a college student and I'd like to weigh in. I do feel at home here, but I will likely move away as soon as I graduate because there are zero jobs here. I will be in debt over $40,000. I cannot take a $10/hour job and "work my way up". I've sacrificed a lot to go to school and naturally I would like a return on the money, time and effort I have invested.
Joe, if you or anyone else can attract businesses that pay college graduates well, then I think we will see other businesses open that will cater to the influx of an educated workforce. The market will dictate this. It would be a natural progression to bring higher end stores once there are people here to support them, but no one is going to invest millions of dollars opening up stores or businesses that make a living off of higher price points, when the locals do not make the kind of money needed to keep them in business. It makes sense when you stop to think about it.
We don't need new retail, restaurants, etc... we need manufacturing, construction and professional positions. Then we need those places to first beat back low bids from other locals on government contracts (keep our tax money here) and then we need them to branch out and seek jobs across the bridge, in Jersey, etc... to bring fresh money in.

You obviously have no clue about the 3 council members you are referring to. They are the best council majority this city has seen in 16 years. Now only if we can get a mayor that wants to work with them for the betterment of the city. Personally I am tired of having a Queen Bee run this city for the past 16 years.
anonymous 2:49, I firmly agree and this is what I have been working on for more than a year now.
Salisbury had a house wife, (all due respect) running the City for many years with no business experience. Now we have a part time school teacher, (with all due respect) running the City with no business experience.
Owning a manufacturing company myself before retiring, I know what it takes to bring in high paying jobs, retaining good people but more importantly I know how to survive in tough times. This is something Salisbury hasn't had leadership wise in some 16 years.
I have a solid plan to do exactly what your asking. I have discussed this plan with the proper leaders in the state and they are extremely excited about my vision and future leadership.
Now, the voters can either vote for Ireton and expect the same things you all have experienced for the past 16 years or you can vote for me and together we can enjoy an incredible future with hope and prosperity.
This isn't Joe Albero's election to lose, it's the citizens' election to lose.
im a city employee and you have my vote , Ireton is a joke ! will you be doing anything to give non fire or police raises ?
Andy Berges says...
2:43 and 2:49 present admirable points.
If the public is well aware of Ireton's immoral lifestyle and that he is not a family man, why would voters with families want to vote for him!?
As far as the college student, who can blame him for moving? This is an oppressive area with "ZERO" decent paying job opportunities. Why would they want to stay here after busting their butt in college for 4 years to become educated...to spend their entire life working at a bar, hotel or restaurant on the Eastern Shore paying their $40k loan back???
anonymous 3:08, Let me assure you, NO ONE will be getting a raise unless EVERY single NON department head gets a raise.
In other words, my personal goal will be to concentrate on non department heads FIRST.
Between Barrie Tilghman and Jim Ireton's FURLOUGHS, yet there was money in SURPLUS, I want to retain and respect the Staff we currently have.
Mayor Ireton wanted to raise taxes on ALL taxpayers just to give his Mayors Office Staff raises and NO ONE else in the City. I'm told the Mayor's Office now costs the taxpayers some $500,000.00 a year, can you believe that.
It's time to RESTRUCTURE. Jim Ireton stated when he was first elected that every department head would be going through a re interview process, yeah right, never happened. Every promise he made he did a complete 180.
Joe Albero will NOT fail the taxpayers nor the City Employees.
Let me close with this FACT.
God Bless the Council Majority for DECLINING their own pay raise until ALL City Employees get a raise. Of course the local media didn't give that any real attention. Not the kind that gesture deserved anyway.
You should also know the local media is not publishing our press releases. Go Figure, right?
Fair and balanced, I think not. The Daily Times LIED to each and every one of you immediately after promising to do a more professional job after their staff was fired for their involvement in an alleged phone spoof from the Mayor. Well, at least you know who they're pimping from here on out.
College student 2:49's comment is somewhat along the lines of what I've been saying. The kind of jobs this area needs and has to have to survive are ones that do not depend on the local economy.
Forget restaurants and retail. Both are completely dependant on local business. I don't have a problem with what is known as corporate welfare either and I do believe it is government's duty to not create jobs but to help create jobs in the form of tax incentives, etc. What I am against is corporate welfare when the so called jobs produced are not living wages and the workers are forced to be supplemented again by us the tax payers such as is the case with Walmart. Corporate welfare should and must be a "tit for tat" type of agreement.
Hopefully your revitalization plan will work Joe because I want to see our educated youth such as Anon 2:49 stay in our area to help Salisbury and the rest of the shore area thrive and flourish.
For now, parents are eking out a living to survive here and I don't foresee our local economy improving under Ireton who could probably care less about our families due to his "unfamilylike" lifestyle that many people pointed out.
5:15 his "unfamilylike" lifestyle that many people pointed out.
Did you really have to go there?
It really makes no sense.
January 24, 2013 at 2:43 PM
Agreed and that is sick!

I clearly understood it. You must be a FOJ!
6:00 it's 5:15 here.
I was trying to be nice, but let me be perfectly clear just for you.
I don't appreciate the mayor of our city being a flamboyant gay man.
Others feel this way too. Besides doing a horrible job as a mayor, he also does not set a good example for our children.
6:27 If he was doing a good job he would be a good example for your children gay or not.
However, he is not so judge him on that and leave the personal out of it.
That is your opinion. You are entitled to it. You must be gay. I am not and do not agree with your opinion. Many parents agree with me.
Our opinion is that he will always be a terrible example for our children. Our opinion is moral and righteous. Yours is self-righteous and righteous.
Joe:
What's your position on the new tax (called a stormwater utility fee) that Ireton wants to have?
Sorry-correction to my 7:17 post. I meant to write "self-righteous and UNrighteous" NOT at all righteous.
When you become Mayor you should audit the payroll of the fire department and charge the acting fire chief with payroll abuse.

January 24, 2013 at 12:50 PM
You have shown yourself to not be paying attention at all. The "majority" of this council has not been together for "several" years, unless you mean that Shanie Shields, Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen have been on at the same time for four years. They are not politically together on most things, but have each shown their own flexibility.
The "majority" in terms of similar thinking (Campbell, Spies and Cohen) have been together for LESS THAN TWO YEARS.
Jim Ireton got in on their coat tails, especially Debbie Campbell's. Then he pretended to support Cohen and Spies last time when he was really preparing to slam Cohen once she got in again.
As for the person complimenting Shanie Shields for being a lady, you've missed some humdingers then. Shanie yelling that others are a disgrace, calling them racists, spitting her candy out into her hand on camera, grunting and laughing at other council members, you name it. If you want a lady, vote for someone like Cynthia Polk (I know nothing about the Jackson lady other than she leads marches). The few times I've seen the Polk lady, she was very dignified and well-dressed, not rich or snobby well-dressed, just simple business-like.
Amazing that anyone can condemn this council with "the other side" getting a chance at bat for less than 2 years, as if any miracle could fix all the rot of the 14 years before that. Especially with Ireton telling everyone he was "with them" when that turned out to be a lie. All Ireton has done is carry on Barrie Tilghman's legacy, her people, her cronyism, her spending habits, etc.
Joe, congratulations on your 10 months. What a commitment you have made, and your family too.
I want to comment on some of the comments about "family."
I do not give two hoots whether Jim Ireton is gay or not. My nephew is gay. He's a wonderful, smart and accomplished person.
I DO, however, give many hoots that our current mayor is frequently reported to be out and about sotted with alcohol. That he takes his shirt off in public places like restaurants. I've been caught in thunderstorms before and I did not change my shirt in the middle of a bar or restaurant. I remember the picture so that is not a rumor. I have heard the other rumor about the women's bathroom and that rumor would have no legs if his public behavior did not lend itself to being true. A man who teaches children as well as represents a city should set a good example. Taking your shirt off in public, calling people you disagree with a racist and throwing temper tantrums in meetings is not setting a good example.
As for the police chief, she lives IN the city. Where her children go to school is NOBODY's business, but get it right if you must talk. I believe she is Catholic and sends them to St. Francis as do many, many parents in Salisbury. How dare you question her choice as a parent? They are not your children, so butt out. She has always conducted herself in a dignified way. If you have a beef with her performance, that is your right. She has done far more to better the city than the FORMER chief, who did NOT live in the city, not even close.
If you want good family people on council or in the mayor's seat, vote them in and support them while they are there. Being a public official isn't easy, but I imagine it has to be twice as tough if you have a wife or husband and children. Debbie Campbell has raised children throughout her 8 years on council. Terry Cohen has done the same with young ones for 6 years.
I would like to hear people discuss issues that affect Salisbury. The personal stuff is not important unless some kind of private matter becomes a very public display. It's hard enough to get candidates and good employees without bashing them for just being who they are or where they send their kids to school.
I am listening to the scanner at around 11 pm when I hear the Salisbury Fire Department Station 2and Paramedic 1 is dispatched for a non breathing subject on Zion Road which is in the County. Engine 16-1 out of Station 16 on Cypress Street responds as well as Paramedic 1, and Paramedic 2 on the call. Engine 2 from Station 2 also responds with 6 firefighters on board. MSP is also dispatched to the call. Now 10 minutes later they decide to call the Medical Examiner because it is a dead person. So now we have 2 big fire engines and 2 big ambulances racing out to a house in the county for a dead person when dispatch already knows it is a dead person. With snow and ice on the road this has got to be a dangerous practice. Who is responsible for this negligence? Some one needs to look into this abuse of power and resources before someone is killed. You don't need all that manpower and large fire trucks responding on ambulance calls. How much revenue did the city get from that call? NONE! How much did that false call actually cost the tax payers. What if there is a major fire or rescue on the West side of the city who is going to safely cover that call? Can you please investigate these calls when you are the mayor or hopefully sooner.
Go Wank...
Well said 11:14, at least someone can post actual facts...

You are incorrect. Just because someone has a Salisbury address does not mean they live in the city limits.
11:14 is not incorrect. The chief of police lives on a city street with a green and white sign not far from downtown, just like another 10 or so people I know from that area.
Look it up people. I did. It's not hard to do. Her first name is Barbara. Her husband's name is Richard.
