Hard-hitting Baltimore Ravens safety Bernard Pollard thinks an NFL player will die on the field of play.
Pollard said though he hopes he is wrong, he believes "one day there's going to be a death that takes place on the field because of the direction we're going."
Pollard also said he believes the NFL will cease to exist in 30 years before acknowledging he hoped he was wrong.

Well, there's a happy thought just before Superbowl! Is there also a list of permanent paralysis to warm that statistic up?
Thanks for getting me more confident towards a Ravens win this weekend!
With team spirit you have, you need to not show up this weekend.
Let the team win this one, as you have just bowed out.
Tackling should not be allowed. It sets an bad example for the children. Tag or touch football like in school is too ruff some times.
Hey these guys love the $$$ i don't want to here about safety its football damn it, and if they dont like it work at McDs
It probably will with the cheap head shots he and the ravens dish out
Ummm... football players these days wear a TON of protective equipment.
Football was a MUCH rougher sport many years ago when there were less rules to protect players from injuries, especially the QBs.
9:02 PM...Many players after Foot Ball careers are over, do work at Mickey D's.
vs how many people nfl players kill off the field every year?
He's breaking my heart! NOT!
They should just outlaw Football. They could go to a smaller capasity (of air) football, they could limit the amount of yardage a player can run, impliment a waiting period before a tackle, oh gee I'm starting to sound like a politician on gun law....
well duh! It's a violent sport.
please the sport is ALL PADDED up the game used to be like Rugby now the sport has no BalZ.
Funny to hear pollard talk about a player getting killed on the field. He is one of the worst offenders do dishes out those violent hits. His violent hits and personal fouls altered past super bowls. Wes Welker, Ron Knonkowski, among many. His next job after the nfl, prision.
