The Baltimore County Council will review an almost four-million dollar request by the county executive to improve school safety.
County Executive Kevin Kamenetz says the $3.7 million would be spent on installing state of the art cameras in all the elementary and special eduction schools
Security cameras are already in the high schools and middle schools in Baltimore county.
According to Kamenetz the video from the cameras will be streamed live into the police patrol cars in that community, the local police precinct and police headquarters in Towson.

Cameras dont stop bad guys....guns stop bad guys!
Still typical government...spend millions on something that wont work...dont let a good crisis go to waste...TAX TAX TAX!!!!!
How about fencing in our schools with armed guards at the gates?
Um, your informed wrong 11:44 am
This is exactly what they want... A live feed direct to the police and their cars... hmmm makes you wonder if ALL cameras can do this, I.E the ones outside schools, any building or resturat and stop lights... almost seems they want to watch us with cameras... hmm interesting huh...
They know exactly how to stop bad guys, they chose not to fix the problem with real solutions... notice how they HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO FIX THE PROBLEM?
they are trying to waste as much money as they can to raise taxes on you...
Do they really think we were born yesterday? These jerks need to quit pandering to the security camera industry lobby and get serious. Banks have not only cameras but also "panic buttons" and they are still robbed every day. Ignoramous jerks like this guy need a foot where the sun doesn't shine and maybe then they will start using their brains once in awhile though it's debatable if most politicians even have a functioning brain anymore esp the democratic ones.
Armed guards are the only solution.
I bet the incidences of violence in places with armed guards is much much lower than places with cameras.
Ok lets put cameras in the schools and live stream it to the police cars. Still if there is something that happens the police STILL have to get to the school. That takes still takes time. How many people can be harmed in that amount of time. These crazy nuts are looking for a place with the least amount of resistance. If they have armed guards at schools they will move on to another place....maybe a daycare or a mall. The problem is with the CRAZY people.
Oh great idea! Let's just spend 4 million dollars and hope if a shooter does enter a school he's standing in camera view so the cops monitoring the live feed will see.
That's 4 million for Baltimore Co, zero for Eastern Shore.
Maybe the cameras will pick up on the violence being done to students and teachers by kids enrolled in the school. Can't wait to see how we avoid punishing those who are constant threats to everyone once the police have seen it.
They will get real time video of the killings as they happen while driving to the school! Niiiice!
Why not take up the NRA on their offer to train all staff in concealed carry for FREE?
Oh, that would make it look like the NRA was saving the day instead of Big Government!
