This country better wake up.
Feinstein, Reid, Leahy and supporters of such legislation are showing America their true mettle. That they feel themselves and their points of view totally above our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Furthermore, they are showing complete disdain for our Supreme Court and it's rulings on the 2nd Amendment. They are ALL thumbing their colletive noses at existing U.S. statutes by even contemplating such legislation. For..,
The 'District of Columbia v. Heller No. 07–290, 2008' was the first opinion that the Supreme Court handed down with regard to the 2nd Amendment since 1939. They held, in that case, "The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home."
In the 70 odd years since 1939 the ruling held by the Court in 'United States v. Miller 307 U. S. 174, 1939' has largely been swept under the carpet and held in disregard. It seems that state and federal governments just DO NOT want to abide by the Court's decision in this case. Which was a definition of what type of arms the 2nd Amendment DID protect. Among other addressed items this ruling said, "..does not limit the right to keep and bear arms to militia purposes, but rather limits the type of weapon to which the right applies to those used by the militia, i.e., those in common use for lawful purposes."
What don't these people understand about "..those used by the militia" or "those in common use for lawful purposes." I submit that, legally, these gun-control bills characterizing arms "in common use for lawful purposes" are a violation of the 2nd Amendment even before written, let alone before entering the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Tell your representatives that you know their actions are illegal and quote the precedents that prove it.
