"We got hung up last year on the cost, and it seems that we determined the costs aren't as great as we were told last year," said Del. Dickie Bell, R-Staunton, the bill's sponsor. "There are new methods of screening and testing used other places, and some are practical and could be applied here."
Bell hasn't introduced drug test legislation yet for the 2013 General Assembly session. The bill he introduced in the last session would have screened all state welfare recipients and then administered drug tests to those suspected of drug use.

I would up the ante - test for alcohol, tobacco products and drugs. If you need government assistance there is no way you can afford any of these vices. It is pretty clear to me that welfare recipients on any of the above don't need the money, they want it. Big difference in my book.

Not everyone on welfare is a scammer.

Doesn't really matter since I am not on welfare.
We will always have evil in this world. If that's what one dwells on and searches for, that is what one will fine.
Most times I like to give the benefit of the doubt and look for the good.
Sometimes disappointed but oh well, that's life.

I wrote the Dec. 5 6:04 "I would up the ante" post and made no reference about everyone on welfare being a scammer. In fact, I believe the welfare program is a good thing. All I said was that people who test positive for drugs, alcohol or tobacco products show those vices to be more important than basic necessities. Where does the money come from to buy those things?
My extremely liberal in-laws have responded to this by telling me "you don't live in the real world". I guess I don't then. Should the government start a program that provides free drugs, alcohol and tobacco to people who show a "need" for them?
I own a small business that employs people, I pay my fair share of taxes and have an extensive list of charities that we donate TIME and MONEY to. To the person that didn't like my post - you don't have to like my views. I have a clear conscious. I do my part to give to my community, not take.
One other thing, I have my opinions, you have yours. Get over it.

Yes, that was quite obvious from the start. As far as getting over anything, I think you are the one who might have issues.
I was merely pointing them out. By upping the ante, as you put it, that means you also include the previous stipulations.
So yes, you were by default, mentioning scammers.
And then falsely accuse someone on being on welfare because they disagree with you.
What having a business and an 'extensive' list of charities you donate to, has anything to do with the subject at hand is...... I give up. What?

I'm glad you donate to charities. More people should. But to wave that around like a banner or something is in poor taste.
